Now that the media idiots are already pushing for 2 SEC teams in the CFP...

Nov 4, 2022, 6:57 PM

Here's my opinion...Any team not winning their conference championship shouldn't get in over any P5 conference winner, unless they have less losses! No eye test needed!

Putting a conference non-winner in isn't even fair to that conference's winner, since they have likely already lost that matchup! Why should the loser of the first matchup get a second chance?

This would take a whole lot of the subjectivity out of the selection process, and make winning your P5 conference championship even more important! Putting a non-winner in the playoff should be extremely rare...so far, it has happened 25% of the time!

A couple of the idiots...yes, idiots...have been predicting

Nov 4, 2022, 7:20 PM

a three-SEC-team inclusion in the playoffs.

I can not understand how any reasonably thinking person, especially any within sports' media can not grasp how patently foolish that kind of suggestion is.

Likewise, including two teams from one conference too many times under the CFP's current organization will spark a major revolt.

To me it's simple, frankly speaking: there is politics involved, and the Committee has to be exceptionally-skilled with the game. So far, they haven't done a bad job. One notable reason: the lamebrained media types are not members...thank God!

I'm sure there are some media idiots who would have no problem

putting one-loss Bama, UGA, Tenn, and Oh St/Mich winner ahead of undefeated Clemson and TCU, if their respective seasons ended that way! That a big reason why, if one loss Bama faces an undefeated TN/UGA winner, I'm pulling for that team to eliminate Bama!

I agree with you 100%. The loser had their chance and until we see a 12 team playoff the 4 team model should follow this simple rule. I will say that if there was an injury to say Bennett or Hooker(vs Bama), then the QB was able to return before the playoffs, then this should be considered in a tie breaker against another team. But only if they shared the same record. No way a 12-1 loser should be even considered against a 13-0 conference champion, no matter the circumstances. But a 12-1 identical record I could see the tiebreaker being an injured QB that will be returning. No other scenario would warrant this type of consideration though. Thoughts?

Good luck with that. We go 13-0, we are in.

I guess you missed my point! I said "some media idiots"...

Nov 4, 2022, 7:38 PM

I'm confident the CFP committee has a little more sense than that!

I am very confident we're in if 13-0. However, I'm almost as confident we won't get in if 12-1, even if we win the ACC CG! A 12-1 USC will get in ahead of a 12-1 Clemson!

Squeeze and see what ya got. Absent TCU and/or Clemson losing the SEC is only getting 1.

If we win tomorrow, I think we'll go 13-0. I doubt TCU

Nov 4, 2022, 8:42 PM

will, but it's possible!

Doesn’t matter SEC is GUARANTEED two spots from now on

Once they go to 12 teams, SEC will get 5 or 6 most years!***

this is why 4 teams is enough. no reason to expand. reward excellence

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Four could be enough, if they would only allow one per conference!

Nov 4, 2022, 11:17 PM

With a 4 team playoff, it is ridiculous to be even considering anything except conference champs!

I agree, a one loss power 5 conference champion

Nov 4, 2022, 10:27 PM

should always trump a one loss power 5 team that didn’t win its conference.
