Now that I think of it,

I don't see a lot of the "Dabo is stuck in his ways" people today.

"we should fire Streeter and hire a bright OUTSIDE offensive mind with new/fresh ideas" people..............better a year late than not at all.

If only we had you as our coach. On balance I’m sure you do everything exactly as well as Dabo AND gotten this right.

The best things come to those who wait... It is admirable that Dabo wants to build loyalty and promote from within in order to maintain consistency and minimize disruption. In some cases, it works out OK but in others, it doesn't. You don't know until you try and so he took one year to see if he could make it work and he saw what failed and made the change.

I'm sure we all wish 100% of our decisions would turn out as we expect but they never do. But boy, when he figures it out and searches for a fix, he brings in a real doozy.

Well, that cuts both ways . . .

. . . one could also ask where all the folks were who defended Streeter and/or castigated those who called for his firing (which Dabo apparently agreed with, as it turned out) and implied that Dabo knows best by presumably keeping him, even though when he ended up not keeping him. So yeah, it all cuts both ways.

I'm more than happy to say that I was wrong about whether or not Dabo would fire Streeter. I don't know if I ever posted on here saying he wouldn't (may have, just not sure). But if I didn't, I sure thought it (that there was no chance he'd do that this year). I was ten thousand percent wrong about that. And conversely, very much right about the critique of how Dabo handled it down the stretch.

I don’t remember a lot of “defend Streeter” posts other than to say he’s handcuffed by a bad qb. Most people were trying to say let Dabo do his job. The incessant complaining on here was not a contributing factor and just makes it stink like FGf.

There was plenty of

defense of Streeter . . . not necessarily affirmatively extolling him as an offensive wizard, but chastising anyone who noticed how bad he was as inappropriately calling for his firing, doubting Dabo's hiring and faith in him, and so forth. And those who did so were proven wrong. The results being complained of always stunk far worse than the complaining, and the complaining would have been less had folks not denied the truth underneath it.

That Dabo fired Streeter does not retroactively excuse acting like coot trash. The point was, for the second time, everyone should have trusted Dabo. Those who didn’t now look foolish. They weren’t “affirmitavely extolling” his virtue because that would have been very difficult. You didn’t see something others didn’t. Some of us just chose to act with the decorum that should be expected. Some of us knew that Dabo was not going to fire a coordinator mid season. It simply wasn’t going to happen and will not happen (barring some off the field issue). The crying didn’t make it happen in-season and played no part in Dabo’s evaluation.

Oh gimmie a break

Jan 20, 2023, 11:14 AM [ in reply to Re: There was plenty of ]

all these discussions use the hardest core crazies to paint all the critics as unreasonable. The fact is Dabo looked terrible and stubborn, NOT b/c he didn't fire Streeter mid-season, but b/c anyone brought up the reality of what they were seeing, they got a bunch of smokescreen garbage . . . "before I was here," "2 national championships," "DJ doesn't return punts," and similar horsecrap. Dabo failed big time playing the Clemson football version of the Ministry of Truth from Nineteen Eight-Four. It was all misdirection and double speak. Some folks went overboard in their criticism, but the crux of the problem was that Dabo was a propaganda machine all year and did his best to suggest anyone who had eyes was a malcontent.

I have never had a problem with owning what I say, and I did say that it was a terrible hire the very instant I read that Dabo hired Streeter and Wes Goodwin. Clemson has become under Dabo Swinney a program of the biggest winning percentage ever in the history of Clemson FB, and I knew that Streeter didn't have the experience to play it forward. It is also my opinion that Goodwin lacks that experience also. But we won big with BV having a dominate defense, and now we will have to win big with a dominate offense. I just wish we could have that dominance on both sides of the ball, it sure would cut back on the nail biting in the tougher games!!!!

Besides Nick Eason and now Riley

Have any other coaches been exposed to any other teams or programs besides Clemson? There hasn't been many new ideas in the building in years.

Thrilled to see the Riley hire.

I’m a pumper so they tell me. I just refuse to believe Dabo went brain dead or arrogant or complain about his salary. Dabo has made Clemson a lot of money over his tenure. If we would not have paid him I’m sure there is someone that was willing to. Still enjoying the ride even though it has consisted of 2 (3) loss seasons. Could be worse we could be SC or Auburn.
