But the 83 point win against Nigeria did nothing to help or prepare the team in this game. When you beat (slaughter? destroy?) a team that bad, it only makes you complacent.

I think there's a big difference between the Dream Team and this group of players. These players, athletically, are probably better in their prime than the Dream Team. But no one outside of Kobe seems to really have the drive that the Jordan group had. Players like Lebron, Westbrook, etc always come across as players that just expect their talent to beat others.

etc. were not only some of the greatest players to lace it up. They were also VERY competitive and winners.

Like you I feel Kobe is the only one on this team that HATES to lose and will do whatever it takes.

Also I agree with beefsteak that they probably won't lose.

Kobe isn't even giving the effort you are giving him credit for & durant and lebron are working their ##### off to win. you clearly don't have a clue about the work ethic of these guys if you think talent is all they are leaning on. The talent of the other countries is higher than in the dream team era and these guys are still mostly throttling them. Lithuania shot something like 60% with decent defensive pressure applied all game, otherwise it would have been an easy 20 pt victory again.

This team might not be as good as the original dream team but to say they don't have the drive to win is ignorant.
