US/UK media for awhile, helping to delay their involvement in Nazi affairs. If real time information from the ground was able to get out that might have changed the course of the war.

We saw this ourselves with Ukraine/Russia. Remember the Ghost of Kyiv? Big difference now is we've got real time video of conditions on the ground helping show the reality of the war. Major media doesn't hold a monopoly on information anymore, and that's a good thing.

Same thing with BLM/Antifa riots...Our media was telling us they were "mostly peaceful protests" even though there were live streams for the world to see showing that they were the exact opposite. And it became very clear who was lapping up the propaganda vs who was actually watching what was happening.

In 1930s you didn't need Twitter/x for the German-American Bund

Ideologies like fascism weren't just contained to Europe, despite not having the virality of the internet and the doom-scrolling technologies at their fingertips.

When the stars align and people in their time figure out how to influence the masses with tools at their disposal they win.

Social media and the internet is by no means the great information equalizer.

Like today. And like the 2020 election. 'Information warfare' is being waged 24/7/365 on everyone. The people who figure out how to do it better or differently will win.

For all practical purposes, the truth about important event XYZ is impossible to ascertain by the masses. Truths will be found that match what the people want the truth to be.

It's pretty simple. This is why more leftists are activists - they use social media more and are more easily influenced as a group.
