Useful Idiots from Wisconsin

Apr 18, 2014, 10:34 AM

I am no fan of professional advocacy groups of the left or right. Typically, their real agendas are at their core the same: self-promotion. In the situation at hand, I am beginning to believe that the FFFRF (or whatever their acronym may be) may be doing Tiger Nation some good. I am amazed by the folks on here who do not grasp what their complaint is about (as opposed to those who simply don't believe there is any or enough evidence to support the complaint).

Their complaint (whether or not there is any supporting evidence) is really quite simple to grasp and it goes to the very core of who we are as Americans. That is, FREEDOM TO BELIEVE. A person’s conscience, not government, should dictate his or her choice to worship—or not.

I suspect that PART of the difficulty some folks are having in grasping the issue is they don't think of Dabo Swinney or Jeff Davis or James Trapp as being the government. But, the fact is they most certainly are the government - at least while they are "on the clock" attending to the duties of their employment.

There state employees on a technicality...

The State didn't hire Dabo or James Trapp, The CUAD hired them. It's beyond ridiculous to call a coach in a revenue generating sport a state employee. Besides there is no violation here, just a group wanting a paycheck.

Not even close to being a technicality. Clemson University

is a body politic and political subdivision of the State of South Carolina. When Terry Don Phillips hired Dabo, he was acting on behalf of the State.

Simply because college athletics is not a core function of government does not mean public university athletic departments are not the government. Penn State (and the commonwealth of Pennsylvania) is re-learning THAT lesson. Now, when that freak DC was committing felonies with little boys, he was acting outside his authority and not on behalf of the state. But, when Paterno and the AD (and probably the President of the university) chose to look the other way, they were acting (or not acting as it were) on behalf of state government - and that government is paying through he nose for it.

Wrong

The agenda if this group is not to promote the freedom to believe, but to restrict it. Their name says it all. Freedom FROM religion. All religions but their own - Atheism. They want an established religion. Their own.
