There are pretty good reasons for leaving out the bums that they left out. Their provisional/practice squad is pretty good too.

I think Diego Costa got left out because he got all entitled because he chose to represent Spain instead of Brazil and del Bosque got tired of his #####. #playbetternexttimebro

role, particularly when playing as a lone striker. From what I've seen Spain tend to get their wingers into the attack very quickly and do not demand them to recover as quickly, rendering them into more of a 4-3-3 a lot of the time.
