Did we have excuses at any point in the last 100+ years? Have any of the parties you mentioned given excuses, for anything?
I don't think excuses are a problem.

The administration has rebuilt Littlejohn and improved facilities. The lack of support im talking about is in recruiting budgets and coaches salaries. Most of the new coaches that were recently hired got at least 2 million a year or more. The administration wants a Cadillac program at Walmart prices. Next year we will see how dedicated Drad is to winning big. Unless Brownell pulls a miracle season, he will not make the NCAA tournament again. Drad already under heat this year will have to hire a new coach. Will he go out and hire another mid major cheap hire or spend the 2 million or more a year and hire an established big time coach? That's what I mean by lack of support.

All that is a bunch of imaginary hogwash.
If Brad fails next year, we will hire the right coach. But I think Brad will be fine.
And it won't take a "miracle" to make the NCAA's. It will take winning a couple more close games.

What makes you believe that? In seven years he has not got the job done. Those close games are not near as impressive when you see how the conference schools did in the tournament. Overrated! If the staff stays the same and nothing changes, where is the improvement going to come from?

Clemson fans make excuses all the time for our basketball failures

Such as:
We're a football school We are not located in a big city We play in the ACC We are a small school and can't afford to put a lot of money into football and basketball The state of SC doesn't have enough basketball talent Clemson doesn't care about basketball
Repeat ad nauseum for 100+ years.

And I for one (at age 63+) am tired of repeated excuses. Nobody liked getting thru a ten year period in football, 1968 - 1977 with virtually no real success. The admin., Trustees and fans made a focused decision to build a winning program.
The same challenge is upon us in basketball and I am ready to see a clear defined effort and not just talk. While a renovated LJC is long overdue that should merely be the first step in defining the program and the expectations.
Go Tigers!

this is SC's first tournament since 2004 and most of the few times they made the tournament in the past, they were one and done. probably makes sense to look at trends rather than 1 season. they lost 10 games this year and were a 7 seed.

You haven't heard excuses? Purnell didn't recruit. KJ left early. The ACC is too hard. The facilities aren't good enough. The facilities have been there only one year. (Next year) Four freshmen in the rotation.

Good one! That's the excuses that the Brownell supporters are using. The facts are Purnell could recruit. His teams were fun to watch. The KJ left early excuse is bogus. It's a coaches job to replace talent through recruiting. KJs leaving early had no effect on this season. The facilities were not good enough excuse won't hold either. Some of the best Clemson basketball teams from Cliff Ellis to Rick Barnes to Oliver Purnell played in the old Littlejohn. Under Purnell it was the 4th toughest arena in the country. Now let's take what will be next seasons excuse. It's a young team with a lot of freshmen who need more time. Another excuse for Brownell supporters! Drad has created a mess. Next year if the record is the same Drad will have no choice but to make a change. What if any reason would the Brownell supporters ever use to fire him?

The fans need to speak up if they want changes. It's been done before. Lack of support got Hatfield fired. A lack of fans in the seats got Leggett fired. The emails and phone numbers are findable.

basketball players in South Carolina ?. Never mind that many other teams do very well with "one and dones" (freshman), Clemson is actually suburban, and there lots of good basketball in South Carolina ... its not like all people do is play football in full pads all day as their sole source of recreation. Personally, football hurts and I would get my buttocks kicked.

The ACC is the best overall basketball conference.
You're obviously inebriated and lost.
And you have feathers sticking out of your skirt.

Did you watch the NCAA tournament? The ACC schools got their hats handed to them. That is the measure that we judge a conference by. You know how the SEC is always bragging how great their conference is in football. Look at their bowl record. Our basketball program is in sad shape.

i've never heard anybody say that Clemson can't be better in basketball because it is 'a football school'.
the issue is Clemson can't force better players to come to Clemson. you have to go to war with who you have.
