This is a 247 poll that Josh Pate created that is made by computations based on predicted neutral field head to head.
Arizona is 16th because they would be predicted to win on a neutral field against Clemson. Based off of whatever is in the system I do not know.
But this looks pretty accurate compared to the AP and CFP. It’s not necessarily taking into account records or anything that gives a team like Texas the nod over Alabama because of Texas’ win against Alabama earlier in the season.
If Alabama and Texas played again on a neutral field, give me Alabama all day.
So, point is Clemson is 17th based off of this.
Indicating that things are not as bad as we think they have been.

Power ratings don't love Washington

They are 13th in FPI, 13th in Sagarin, and Vegas has them as a dog at Oregon State this weekend. Washington's defense is pretty bad and it's dragging them down despite Pennix and the WRs being awesome.

Yeah that wasn’t put together by an SEC sycophant at all. LSU?? Ha! Whatever criteria they used self supported SEC teams just for playing each other. UW would score about 98 on LSU and 102 on Missouri, as would Oregon. Conveniently forgotten are the real out of conference results of the SEC in the first few weeks of the season before they started their annual incest fest.

If you think this about Oregon and Washington compared to LSU, look at this photo I conveniently just found.
Why should SEC teams get penalized like you said? The overall roster talent for SEC teams top to bottom is often more compared to other conferences. This is a factor in why SEC teams are more often top-50.
I’m not a coot. I’m simply providing support for this ranking model because it has Clemson in the top-25.
If you disagree with it, would you also disagree that Clemson is 17th?
Yeah I believe unlike normal AP and CFP rankings, this system takes into account roster talent. It also takes into account how the team is playing at this point in time.
Whatever reasons you can think of that would put Alabama 4 spots ahead of Texas. But like I said, I agree with that. If Alabama played Texas, it’d be a different outcome with how they’ve figured out their team.
Louisville is extremely overrated in the CFP rankings.
I just don’t really disagree much with this poll.

Lewisville must have been forgotten in this graphic. If they win out they stand to go to the playoffs.

No matter what you think, Texas beat Alabama on the field.

When that stops mattering we shouldn’t even play the game, save the concussions and ACLs and let the computer algorithms battle it out.

You’re being too closed minded to this.
Let me point out this.
Alabama did not necessarily have their QB situation totally figured out and in rhythm during the Texas game.
It is not exactly the same as 2020 when Clemson lost to ND with DJ, but it was a QB situation. In fact DJ did not do anything in that game to put us at risk. Actually his best game of his career. But..we all remember what happened later in the season when we beat them in the ACC Championship.
But, we lost in 2OT. Alabama lost by 10 to Texas.
There are many examples of a team losing early to another team, and then beating them the 2nd time.
And I think Alabama would.

The only poll that matters is the one on December 3rd.

It's not a poll.

Pate makes that clear when he explains it. He says if he were making a ranking (poll) he would put Texas ahead of Alabama.
But, this is a "power rating." It is based on the following criteria: If Team A played Team B on a neutral field, who would be favored?
He has some sort of computer program that spits it out.
Clemson is a 6.5 point favorite over UNC. But, given their records, should Clemson be ranked ahead of UNC in the Coaches Poll?

Well exactly, a power ranking.
I honestly think at this moment where Clemson is, I would rather be 17th in a power ranking than actually being ranked in one of the polls.
Polls are created by voters. There are “deserving” factors that go into voters’ decisions.
It’s good to see an official system see us as high as we are. It’s relieving for me at least.
I know that we have a good team. But there are weird factors to why we do not perform to our potential.
