Tampa technically won the NFC South but only beat the Panthers 9-0. The Saints are hot and finished strong beating the Falcons 48-17. Tampa is kind of in a rut and can’t score.
Should they put the Saints in the playoffs instead?

NFL has a true playoff, not some made for tv post season invitational thst means little.

Btw - the cFP committee got it right. They were to put the best tv product out there and they did.

College football has a subjective process to identify playoff teams.

Nothing else to say, unless you’re on the college football playoff committee.

I can explain the difference from NFL to NCAA when it comes to that

NFL has 32 teams, all teams full of professional players with 1st round picks and everything. All teams are able to go the distance any given year. Even though there are better teams.

College Football Playoff has teams across basically 5 conferences. About 100 teams. The talent gap in roster between Alabama and Rutgers is tremendous. Therefore you cannot evaluate it that way anymore

That’s the beauty of the NFL. Didn’t care for it for years but at least they have rules and salary caps so it’s an equal playing field. A good GM is needed to be successful and the format takes out the human equation in picking playoff teams.

where the playoff participants are determined by the actual results on the field as opposed to some subjective media-driven BS.
