Yep. NFL should say anything past the first down marker is fair game for

you're a LB or DB and have a QB running at you. You're running towards him at 10mph getting ready to make a tackle, and he's running at you at same speed. As you go airborne, he quickly slides down at your feet.

What can you do? No way you can change your inertia mid-air, so you have no choice but to make contact with him. You just hope you get lucky and only glance his body/head and no penalty is called.

If you hesitate and lay off assuming the QB slide, you get the 50yd QB TD run as the Steelers found out yesterday.

If she's a hollerer, she'll be a screamer.
If she's a screamer, she'll get you arrested.

QB should be fair game, slide or no slide, once he decides to be a runner. You want to be a weapon with your legs, get ready to be treated like a RB. If you don’t want to get hit, throw the ball away instead of taking off.

I'm for eliminating ALL safety rules.

Roman gladiators didn't have safety rules.

Eliminate the slide. Back in the dinosaur ages, I don't remember Unitas, Starr, Jurgensen, Staubach, Bradshaw, Montana or Namath doing much running save for perhaps Staubach. They all could sling it though.

Fran Tarkenton ran around a lot, but was so elusive he rarely got hit until late in his career.

In this day of RPO and the mobile QB, treat them the same as a RB. You run at your own peril.
