Wouldn't be surprised to see other conferences follow suit... it certainly would result in a more interesting football season if we had one less gimme game.

My .02 Cents

This is the first step towards creating the new 80 school separation from the NCAA.

If the power 5 conferences all,

1. agree to drop FCS schools from schedules

2. go to 16 schools per conference

3. come up with common conference scheduling rules:
A. 8, 9 or 10 Conf games
B. 2, 3 or 4 out of conference power 5 games
C. 12 Game season with a championship game

4. split from the NCAA and create the new Controlling Board over the 5 power 5 conferences
A. Define Rules
B. Negotiate Playoff and championship rights for post season
C. Negotiate rights for OOC game packages
D. Negotiate rights for "special" games Kick Off Classic, Non- playoff bowls etc

5. Each of the power 5 conferences then can maintain their right to negotiate their in conference media packages. (SEC Network , BIG 10 Network , ACC Network , and etc.)

6. Each school will get one vote in any Board level legislation, including the initial "constitution".

The 80 schools will control their own destiny rather than being controled by the majority of smaller NCAA schools.
