NCAA should be embarrassed

10

Jul 14, 2023, 1:11 PM

Over 200 recruiting violations in 3 years and Tennessee gets a minimal fine 5 years probation and loses 10 scholarships for the next 5 years (2 per year) after they self imposed 18 scholarships when the story broke.

Typical NCAA. No gonads when it comes to the SEC.

Because of what they were doing is now legal.

Literally none of their infractions are allowed now…maybe you should have someone read it to you and explain all the big words so you’ll better understand.

Not surprised the Vol fans don't know what they

Lets just say they got in on the ground floor with pre-NIL money.

Still can’t pay recruits and their families. Period.

Let’s just say your school is dirty.

She’s a Vols fan. Big words and understanding is hard.

Should I have the guy that was my best friend and went to Clemson as a lineman explain to you what goes on at Clemson so you might understand that you have dirty laundry, too? Pretty entertaining to listen to him. If you think things don't go on at every major football power you have your head in the sand. Yes, even in the lowly ACC as well.

I don't condone what goes on at Tennessee, Ohio State, Alabama and Clemson. Those on the inside consider it part of the arms race. The big thing, really, was the pre-NIL money that was given out.

You got that right, it's ridiculous.***

10 ships, or 2 ships.

Jul 14, 2023, 2:14 PM

They will have 83 for next year. Will they have 83 for the next year, or will they have 81? Will they have 83 for the next year, or will they have 79?

It's semantics, but if they are reduced to 83 for the next 5 years, they only lost 2 ships, not 10.

You've made the most critical point on this thread. Kudos to you!

10 scholarships would be 75 for five years. Media and NCAA trying to cover down for the SEC and make their sanctions seem more respectable. Deplorable.

What is the correct punishment?

Jul 14, 2023, 2:31 PM

Opposing fans aren't happy no matter. Pruitt got a very stiff penalty that has all but ended his college coaching career. He is the primary culprit in this. Are the kids involved still there?

I think it would have made more sense to reduce scholarships by 5-10 for the next 3 years (each year). the new movement is to not penalize the current staff and players, which I respect. This was about the old AD and HC being crooked....

SMU was handed the death penalty for less. Clemson was punished more harshly in the 90’s for less. Penalties for crime shouldn’t be considered “fair”. It’s a punishment and a deterrent for other schools/people to not commit the same violation. If there’s no fear of the punishment, there’s no reason to not commit the offense. That’s the problem, the NCAA has no teeth and there isn’t any deterrent for cheating. I hold that viewpoint for any school caught cheating SEC or ACC.

Until proven otherwise I like to believe that Dabo runs as clean a program as there is in the country. He dern sure don’t play by SEC rules. I guess those coot and vol fans who had an uncle sister cousin who once new a guy who played football with a long snapper from “Sister Sadie Dinkins Sunday School Class” (Prophet) know better than me though. I guess it ain’t to hard to catch Clemson and beat them once every 9-10 years when you don’t have the same rules?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree that penalties should deter future cheating...

Jul 14, 2023, 3:29 PM

but the best people to answer that privately are the school admins and the AD. Paying an $8M fine is a good chunk of change, even in todays major athletic dept world. Shutting the program down doesn't do anyone any favors and costs alot of innocent people to be hurt by it.

I think the deterrant to coaches should be what they did to Pruitt. I mean, he got fired for cause and will get no buyout money from it. He cannot coach for 6 years in college football and will have to sit out another year if he ever gets a college job. Yes, he has fallen into something decent but alot of embarrassment and shame for him and his family.

Its not a perfect penalty by any stretch but I think they got it right with Pruitt.

We found out the "5 year probation" means nothing when the coots were put on probation under Spurrier, then became a repeat offender a couple years later with no additional punishment.
