Look, I know a lot of you are predicting that it will be a big step up year for Cade Klubnik with Garrett Riley.

I see what I see though. I could very well see an improvement from last year.

But..I’m sorry I don’t see Cade becoming some elite QB out of nowhere. God forbid my opinion affect any player, which it won’t lol.

Why can a team not rely on the run anymore?

Seeing that Matt Luke is making much progress with the O-line and getting them to buy in and play for him, there will be lots of improvement there.

I completely understand the satisfaction of having a spread offense that works and can put up 40 points a game. Especially from Dabo’s perspective.

But…Maybe Dabo should take a different approach here. Maybe he should switch to a more pro-styled offense. Make the actual emphasis a lot more on zone runs and the trenches. And let the passing open up as a result.

And no he hasn’t done this yet. We’ve still tried to make passing the dominant focus.

Like Michigan. Pro style offenses don’t always have to be bad. Like Iowa or whoever sucks.

Cade could be a JJ McCarthy without a doubt. His athleticism is very similar, even though Cade is 100% a naturally better QB that hasn’t found his rhythm yet.

I honestly just don’t see us breaking through out of nowhere by trying to figure out how to pass it downfield. We do not have Trevor, we do not have Deshaun. We do not have Mike Williams, we do not have Tee Higgins, etc.

From what I saw last year, Garrett is not a big step up from Streeter***

Due to the portal and inability to hold 3-4 great qbs on roster at a time, I believe it's inevitable that we drift towards a true 50/50 run/pass with a huge focus on O-line and RB recruits.

Saban saw the writing on the wall after Bryce Young left. Hired Tommy Rees and reverted back to his old pro style as well.

Regarding Cade - I don't understand the optimism after 1 good drive against a prevent defense either.

I think he’s a little lower level than Kelly Bryant, and a higher level than Kyle Parker.

We’ve just failed to see him come through in the biggest situations. UNC was for the ACC title, but that defense obviously couldn’t stop a turtle running down the field.

I believe he can run an offense, just not an offense that is going to shred you with an air attack.

I honestly think if Dabo wants to keep his same approach offensively, then he’s going to have to try Vizzina. He’s got a much stronger arm, and I’ve already seen him do some things Cade hasn’t. In practice.

My positive take comes from the facts that

1). Experience in a QB matters. Bo Nix and Penix last year were terrific but were bad to average for their first 3 to 4 years of their career.
2). The WR corps will be solid. Definitely above average with everyone back healthy, which they haven’t been for two years.
3) TE will be very good.
4). By all accounts the OL will be our best in some time…..

All four position groups will be better this year, and three will be markedly so.

I am not sure of Shipleys loss and its impact - certainly need a strong 2 and 3 behind mafah. Regardless, I certainly am in the camp that the offense will be 10 to 14 points a game better than last year.

Big picture thought - I do think the game is ripe for the plucking to have a strong running game as defenses have become faster/longer/smaller, but I don’t think we’re there yet, nor do we have enough proven backs.

Looking forward to it all. Go Tigers!

Been saying it all year....Klubnik is not a good QB...period. We have to sit through another year of him.

Last year was basically his first year. He has 14 starts under his belt. I think it is too early to label him.
