Military academy question...

May 30, 2012, 1:18 PM

Could you join a military branch, serve your time, then go to a service academy, or is it always you go to the service academy, THEN onto your service?

Don't ask, don't tell?***

South Carolina so much because they had the pick of who they wanted from the armed forces.

There's no telling them different.

Seems like if it depends on your CO

You could be SOL if you have a bad one. Even if you did qualify.

It can go both ways. I know a guy who was at Winthrop and left school to join the Marines. After serving in the Marines for a couple years he went onto West Pointe to finish school.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Marine went to West Point?

May 30, 2012, 1:35 PM

Would seem like his Marine buddies would hate him, and the cadets would hate him too.

The requirements say you must be between 17 and 23

May 30, 2012, 1:41 PM

So you could serve prior to reaching age 23 and potentially be accepted
