Maybe It's Time Everyone Calms Down

Listen the Alexander news is not great, he is a special talent, and as someone pointed out he still could pick Clemson even though it seems more unlikely than before. I will continue to update y'all if something changes again.
However, reading the comments to that post made realize how far Clemson has come as a program. Clemson is now at a level that people are upset when we may lose out on the #1 player in the state of Alabama. If that is not a sign of where Clemson is at as a program, I am not sure what is.
Clemson is not going to win every recruiting battle, I think we know that, but who thought 8 years ago "losing" a battle would mean not being able to land the #1 player in the state of Alabama.
-Maybe Alexander surprises me and picks Clemson, again will update you if anything changes; however, the outcome of this recruitment will not define where Clemson is as a program, but I think the "battles" that they are now involved in do.
-Have a great week Tigernation!!!

That's a great perspective. I too get excited when we get a commitment from a quality player, but let's face it, all of the players we recruit are quality players. How many "have to get" players do we get and you don't hear their name again (at least on the playing field) until their redshirt sophomore or junior season. I have complete confidence in our coaches ability to develop players. The players that can jump right in and play, like Sammy and Trevor are few and far between. Neither I, nor Dabo, is too concerned about getting the #1 recruiting class.

Yeppers, just like the man himself said not so long ago, (Dabo) I have never had a #1 recruiting class. But our team is always at the top with the others that has brought in a #1 recruiting class!!!!

Exactly, I remember when getting a player like Roscoe Crosby wise “programing defining”. When the rest of the class had a couple four stars and mostly three and two stars. When both Chancellor twins committed it was a huge deal, now it would be small recruiting news. I never forget where we come from and I trust Dabo and Co completely. Thanks for the great post as always.

I hear you but the teams we compete with at the end of year are all in

The top 10. Something is wrong or it as right as it should’ve in 2021 for a team that has become a mainstay I the CFB playoffs. Who else that finishes in the top 4 like we have with two NC’s are ranked where we are. As you look at who is left it’s getting slim pickins. I don’t want to sound spoiled but FSU, UNC and MIA are running ahead of us right now. What has happened? Why are we not doing as well as UGA and ALA and OSU… there is a “big lie” out there about us? Is it the way we played in last two playoff games? I have been following recruiting for a long time. We are either the big boys or not. Mac and Norvell come and we can’t seem to get on track. What are they telling these guys? Especially guys like Alexander and Shaw who are trending towards us and then boom… the other big boys and even ACC folks are out recruiting us.

Look at when the dust settles. We will be fine. Plus our coaches know how to develop players. Many do not.

I would calm down but I’ve invested a lot of effort to reach this nirvana like level of pandemonium…..besides, these kegs of espresso aren’t free.

While I agree that Clemson should be able to recruit at a high level, and I am of the opinion that they still are, I would not put much stock in where FSU, Miami, and UNC are right now.
UNC will start to get their share, maybe they get Shaw, but I was out-front saying that UNC was not going to get Everette even when they have more going in their favor than anyone. UNC will wind up top 15 most likely, but they have 9 commits and 5 of those are 3 stars. Clemson on the other has 8 commits and only one is a 3 star, and that is the number 2 kicker in the country.
-I understand the FSU thing simply because they are trying to make a lot of noise right now to make themselves appear relevant again. However, when you look past the gimmicks there is really not a lot o f substance at all. They did get Travis Hunter who is the best player this class, but it would have almost been impossible for them to miss on him. FSU currently has 15 commits, only 3 of those are top 100 hundred guys, and the rest are all ranked outside the top 200.
-I am not sure where you got Miami was running ahead of us, but they currently only have 3 commits and have been cold on the trail for months.

I mean maybe you think you always have a chance until its done, but Clemson had Alexander and Bama flipped that in a matter of 24hrs, not sure they can flip him back.

This maybe the single most logical post I’ve ever read on Tigernet. I agree 110%, time will tell how the bigger markets along with NIL affect Clemson recruiting but we haven’t won National Championships with number 1 ranked classes so why is it imperative now?
