the unthinkable and pulled Michael Penix out of the portal.
What difference might he have made to our record?
It takes more than a QB to be a championship caliber team. But a QB like Penix (or DW) can definitely make an offense better. And with our defense...I'm not saying we would have made the playoffs...
But that FSU game? And especially Nancy State and Miami?
Still wish Dabo had made an effort to get an extra QB in this most recent go-round.

From what I saw last night and most of the season from Penix , I believe he is talented enough to have had us undefeated.....I know that sounds crazy but if you look at the teams and games we lost, it's completely possible that Penix could've put us over the hump. Every game but 1 was a one score game and Penix is easily talented enough to overcome that
Now what we would have been able to do in the playoffs vs Michigan or Bama, I dont know but I truly believe we have had an undefeated regular season
Also, this is not a bash of Cade. He is a good QB just not elite yet

but if you start shopping for a portal QB, what's to prevent your returning starter from getting his feeling hurt and entering the portal. If you don't land a portal QB, then you're really screwed.

If that's the only objective, we should fire Dabo and hire a Kirby Smart clone. That coach would treat players as a commodity to be used and discarded indiscriminately as required to get the most wins possible. Things like graduating players and PAW Journey would be a discarded. Would need to hire a few folks who work with the judicial system to hide legal infractions whenever possible.

Behind our OL would still have been a challenge… We also don’t have the WRs he has who were awesome.

Okay to speculate, but this would have required the ability to look into the future. I guess that’s what evaluation is for. Just noting that it’s easy to say that after a great season/playoff.
But yeah, who wouldn’t want him now.
