Yes, we all want more money. Schools, conferences, families all lust for additional funding. However, management of those funds is critical. Like many of you, when my bride and I married in 1963, we owned little more than the clothes on our backs. But we got better jobs, better pay and slowly acquired assets. Now at age 80 we are comfortable financially and are enjoying life to the fullest.
Anyone over the age of 50 has seen our athletic programs prosper under great leadership. A new softball program that will be a top ten program next year and is busting at the seams to add more seating. New lacrosse and gymnastics programs with great facilities in the works. Look at what Dabo has accomplished with the expansion of football facilities. I could go on, but if you are a Clemson fan you are very aware of the growth and expansion of all athletic programs at Clemson.
Thank you Terry Don Phillips, Dan Radakovich, Graham Neff, Jim Clements and our board members. You had vision, borrowed when rates were low and did not have to contend with legislators like our poor little sisters in Columbia. Clemson is more than a football school. It is an elite school!!
In the future Clemson may add lacrosse and gymnastics for men and beach volleyball (oh boy) for the ladies. Maybe wrestling programs for men and women. Yes there are womens wrestling programs.
I'm not going to worry about leadership at our university. We're in good hands.
