Brad Brownell Appreciated Everywhere But Clemson

The Athletic puts his name in the mix at Ole Miss.
Brad Brownell, Clemson head coach. Escape Hatch Guy No. 1 on this list. If Brownell has stuck around Clemson for 13 seasons, it doesn’t entirely compute that he’d leave after one of his best years yet … but maybe it’s a response to the hot-seat chatter he’s endured, not to mention a jump to a league with a more solidified future.

I hardly think one mention of one potential opportunity from one website equates to "appreciated everywhere."
Hope it works out for Brad and he gets hired at Ole Miss after we miss the NCAA tournament again in a couple of weeks.
Go Tigers!

It's also funny that they never think about mentioning that Brad is having his best season at Clemson with the ACC having a down year more so than any season that Brad has been at Clemson....

The ACC has been down in football for the last decade

but I haven’t seen anyone here diminishing our success against ACC teams during that span of time.
It’s almost as if there’s a double standard here.

Clemson football hasn’t lost to the worst teams in the ACC during those “down years”. ACC basketball has always been better than ACC football.

Been in the final game been in the final four etc. how you even compare the two is beyond me and most rational beings. I hate to use the term but your statement is frankly stupid.

In 2016 the ACC was the top conference in the country with the best group of QB’s in the country. Coach Swinney won his first national championship.

As recently as 2016, the ACC was considered the strongest conference. Just last year, seven different ACC teams, six from the Atlantic division, were ranked in the CFP rankings!

To acknowledge that the league is also down in basketball. Therefore, you have no credibility.
You might use the “down” argument to dismiss the seven conference championships during that time period. How do you dismiss the victories over Notre Dame, Ohio St thrice, Oklahoma twice, Alabama twice, 6 playoff appearances, and 2 national championships?

And there it is. Taking the first opportunity available to take a cheap shot at the more successful football program and coaches. You don’t look good in green. And you don’t read well. That topic is raised a lot on this board. Must be from the multitude of poasters you have on ignore.

in getting into and excelling at NCAA tourneys then you're not hiring a guy like Brownell. Can't sell that to the school.

I’m pretty sure you don’t know what they mean by “escape hatch” guy if you think it is some kind of compliment. Much like how Brownell ended up here when our real target embarrassed us - he’s a guy who’ll run a middle of the road program, cleanly and will almost certainly say yes. He is mostly certainly no one’s first choice. I guess we can pray things fester long enough that they make an offer and he jumps. A fresh new contract when he might only have a couple million in total compensation coming from Clemson might be really attractive.

Getting hired quickly as a HC could save us a decent chunk of change on buyout commitments, if they're structed a la Tommy Bowden.

Brad has the highest conf win pct of any coach in Clemson history, probably the best coach in Clemson history. Give him more resources, because he would probably be missed after he’s gone.

That reminds me of Paul Dietzal when at USuC floated that the Denver Broncos were interested in him. There were bumper stickers in Columbia "Denver Deserves Dietzal" maybe "Ole Miss Deserves Browell"
