Gun toting redneck Georgians least likely to survive.

Pot smoking hippies in Colorado most likely to survive.

Almost like there's more factors than just gun ownership...***

Cole @ Beach Cole w/ Clemson Hat

Id argue that an sportsman with a gun

Is more likely to survive than someone that has spent a ton of time hiking/camping.

Why?

The sportsman with a gun has spent their entire life using that weapon to hunt for food. Theyve more than likely learned how to prepare said food to consume and how to cook it. A hiker/camper packs food or MRE's for their trip. While a camper/hiker can start a fire to prepare the food, those prepared meals will run out.

I am taking the guy with the hunting experience and a gun compared to the guy eating leaves and berries.

Please forgive me, @IneligibleUser

Maybe...maybe not.

There's not a lot of survivalist instinct built into dumping a pile of corn on the ground and then climbing into a comfy tree stand with a padded swivel chair to wait for a shot, and then hauling the kill off to a processor to do the dirty work. On the other hand, a backpacking aficionado may have very well picked up some foraging skills, the ability to find and sanitize water sources, and even trapping small game to eat. I know a BUNCH of avid hunters, and there are maybe 3 or 4 at best that I would trek with in a survival situation in hopes that their skills would help keep me alive. It really depends on the person, and not the generalization that they grew up hunting/shooting or hiking/camping.
