I define an authoritarian government losing a battle to a company over its free expression a great example of the free market.
That sweetheart one-of-a-kind deal bolstered Florida's economy and jobs for the state for decades, and DeSantis tried to end it because they hurt his wittle feewings. In case you didn't pay attention a few years ago, Nikki liked to make some sweet deals with businesses as well to bring more jobs to SC and boost the economy.

IMO, the evidence of DeSantis’ defeat in the Disney / Reedy Creek tax district fight came when Disney’s Reedy Creek board voted to permanently transfer the decision of how the board would vote to Disney management.
By doing this at the time when they did it (I.e., before the FL representation was scheduled to become part of the board), that decision by the Disney board neutered the board’s power.
The house has been gutted, but from the outside it still looks the same.
DeSantis ‘won’ but the prize was to take control of a board that could not implement his ESG agenda. FWIW, a future FL government can not make Disney follow a more ESG centric policy by threatening the tax status of the Reedy Creek tax district.
After Disney showed DeSantis how corporate governance works, DeSantis was just left with a strategy of spitting into the wind.
The fat lady had sung long before this final act had played out.

DeSantis is smart annd well educated, but overestimated his legal abilities and that of his staff.
This will probably kill him off, at least as far as his bid to become Republican party’s top POTUS candidate if the Democrats achieve success in nuisance-suiting Trump into being unable to campaign and communicate freely.
Vivek is skyrocketing at the moment. Let’s see how the media attempts to destroy Vivek. The establishment media is refocusing their gun sights on him as we write our TNet posts.

A lot simply aren't realistic or are beyond his scope.
DeSantis is intelligent, but he tried to bill himself as Trump with a brain. Turns out most Americans still don't want a scary fascist in office, so he's done and he has only himself to blame (not the media).
Vivek, IMO, has good ideas for the economy and cutting waste. Love how he wants to publish the Epstein list, but be careful what y'all ask for there because Trump and Goons will likely be on it.
Of course, he pushes for a lot of presidential overstep: Using the military to secure the border, banning social media for kids under 16 (yeah, right... he gonna lock up parents?), withholding federal funding to cities, pulling away from China (easier said than done). He'd likely get in office and do none of this.
And he wants to pardon Trump, which the overwhelming majority of Americans do NOT want to happen.

oh people care and businesss have been paying attention to Ron's attack on commercial enterprises.
while ron was attacking the business community, neighboring states were attracting manufacturing cos that dont want the instability that Ron presents.
AL, GA, SC and TN been cleaning up in announcing new manufacturers locating in their states while Ron was playing petulant big brother games.
talk to some economic development folsk and ask them what they think about economic development in FL.

Disney Resorts is a client, and I have tolerated one shiddy policy after another. He has done serious damage to this states economic future in an attempt to appear like the biggest, baddest GOP asshat, I believe that is the playbook for winning the GOP primaries? I am thrilled to see him go down, and sadly he was actually a reasonable Goveorner his first term. His ambition got the better of him.

He thought he needed to outdo Abbott, and wasn't nearly as good with it, and it put a brick wall in front of his aspirations.
Had he doubled-down on what he was good at -- home rule and bettering economic conditions in his state, he'd be cakewalking into the White House. Populism is a losing game.
