Coming!). Do you see more and more people trying to get into Death Valley to see the Tigers? If so, is their a point--2 NC's or 3 NC's down the road where Death Valley is expanded to 90,000+?
I think with the growth in the Clemson area, the interest now dawning nation wide over the PAW, and the growth of Greenville and the Upstate I could see it happening. What do you think? Where would we build 10,000 more seats?
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

season ticket sales have reached new heights.
if there was a way to add seats without changing DV significantly, then maybe. i personally don't ever see the Hill changing, at least i hope not, but who knows?

i would imagine it would. there are games now where the

corners are not filled, partly because of teams with smaller or "indifferent" followings.
i imagine more non clemson[or game specific] fans will be drawn as well, a chance to be a part of what you are describing; the bucket list crowd will max out...
clemson is in a good spot for what you describe being a relative easy day trip drive from charlotte and atlanta and as you said continued growth in greenville county.
i understand why they are decreasing the capacity of littlejohn, the same theory could be applied to dv and the football program.
82,500 is a lot of people in a great, great venue. i guess you have to make a decision first, do you want to eff that up?
idk, it's fun thinking about those "next 10 years" though.

because they felt it would increase the on-field temperature by cutting off breezes.

economically feasible like it was in the 70s/80s. Also, the "good seats" are taken. What is left is the "cheap seats".....and let's face it, the upper decks are scary as h3ll.

The investment in an way the West Zone

Has been built really negates any addition there. No way we ever mess with the hill. We could extend the corner seating on either side of the hill and add a few thousand, maybe get to 85 k, but for me expansion isn't a priority. Bigger isn't always better, and aesthetics mean something. Nothing wrong with having more demand than supply in regards to tickets

Plus on games when we have cupcakes like WF, or USCjr, the stadium would look terrible on TV with empty seats.

To me, it's pretty simple. If we ever reach a point where we're selling out ALL home games, regardless of opponent, then maybe it would be time to expand.
Schools like Alabama and Notre Dame sell out every game. Even the cupcake games. Hell, Alabama get's an almost full capacity crowd for their spring game! Clemson is not there yet. And I don't know that even winning a NC would put us there.

Some of those also have HUGE student sections

because they have a much larger student population. AND many schools charge the students to attend the games on top of activity fees.
I think it would be an interesting comparison to see the number of seats reserved at stadiums for students as a percent of stadium size and percentage of total student body population (and if there are any costs to the student for those tickets).

Unless there is a huge revenue need
Feb 6, 2015, 9:15 AM

Clemson aint expanding DV. Not sure the roads in Clemson can handle 10k more people, especially for a noon or night game. The views would be so bad the seats wouldn't be worth sitting in. The trend in stadiums is generating revenue through amenities and not capacity.
I bet if you could give some UGA fans/administration some truth serum they would wish they could go back to about 85k and not their current 94. Their fans constantly complain about the sheer number of folks in Athens and how it is starting to take away from gameday.
Knoxville is a horrible place to go to and watch a game. At some point its just becomes too many people in 1 small area.

Traffic would be even worse. Tailgating would be tight. I find the experience of 100,000 seat venues to be awful.

I dont think that would be a good idea. Sports tickets in general are making it difficult for avg fans to go see games. Hd tvs, replays, and the fact that kids and people dont spend as much time outside anymore make watching games at home the preferred choice. All of the newer stadiums are going for less seats, more amenities, and retractable roofs. Its all business at the end of the day. I think we could definately improve tailgating to the levels of auburn, alabama, and some southern hbcus.
