Let's do compare ourselves to Aub, Uga, LSU, and Usuc

Nov 20, 2014, 1:26 PM

Here's the tale of the tape:

Including 2010 to now, here are the records:

Clemson 45-18; 1 losing season (6-7 IN 2010);1 conf title,1 div title, 1 BCS bowl win
Georgia 44-19; 1-1 vs Clemson; 1 losing season (6-7 in 2011);2 div titles
LSU 51-13; 0-1 vs Clemson; No losing season ;1 conf title, 1 div title
Auburn 44-19; 1-2 vs Clemson; 1 losing season (3-9 in 2012) ; 1 NC, 2 Conf titles, 2 div titles
So Car 47-16 5-0 vs Clemson; None yet, but this yr is possible. ;1 div title

Comparable results?

How can we keep a coach with that record???//?????//??

You need a new thread for this?

Nov 20, 2014, 1:34 PM

You've already posted it. The records are very comparable, which makes it fair to compare other areas.

All of the above are much better against teams with comparable talent (I use 10 win teams). I don't understand your point.

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

Nov 20, 2014, 1:55 PM [ in reply to You need a new thread for this? ]

We understand you want Clemson to win more championships.

We understand you want us to beat SCar more.

We understand you think Dabo should achieve more.

There's not a single actual Clemson fan who would disagree with any of that.

Where you like to get your jollies from is by assuming that maybe firing Dabo will give us a better chance at doing those things.

You fail to ever give any credence to the fact that there are more situations like Tennessee than there are Auburn where when you fire a coach...you are more likely to flounder for years (UT firing/running off Fulmer) than to even get back to about where you were with the guy you wanted to get rid of (Auburn firing/running off Tubberville).

Got it.....now tell us about WVU & the Big 12 again? LOL

I'd say it depends on who is hired...

Nov 20, 2014, 2:13 PM [ in reply to Not attacking, you're just pathetically defensive. ]

Dabo is a well-liked and immensely popular coach who also happens to have a very good relationship with players, recruits, and the parents of players and recruits.

On that basis alone, we'd likely suffer some setbacks as the result of firing him, but the right hire would certainly minimize that just like the wrong hire would be detrimental.

Nov 20, 2014, 2:16 PM [ in reply to I'd say it depends on who is hired... ]

Thanks for answering btw...obviously York doesn't like to be in any kind of discussion where he doesn't get to set the rules or pigeon hole the conversation in the direction he'd like...

We could maybe get Gruden, or Saban, or ...well, whomever folks would likely say "OK this gives yo ua better chance than you have now".

However returning from lala land, and understanding Dabo has faults and shortcomings so far in his career...I'd suggest there is a far greater chance of making a change and getting worse instead of better.

Are folks happy w/ losing to GT? no W/ having really 1 answer at QB and basically really kind of suck on O w/o him? no

That said....we could be a hole hell of a lot worse, and what has been improved during Dabo's time tells me our best chance to continue to improve is to let the guy keep working at it.

Nov 20, 2014, 2:19 PM

Dabo's not going anywhere.

That said, if it were happen, I do not have any confidence that the CU administration would go out and effectuate a "home run" type hire.

But the 2 games a year that matter most the last 5 years the Tigers are 1-9

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We have a segment of fans....

Nov 20, 2014, 1:59 PM

who insist on b!tching and moaning after every loss and calling for various heads to roll. In fact, I am convinced that this same segment of fans would go out of their way to find something to gripe about even if the team was 12 - 0. Apparently some people just aren't happy unless they're complaining.

They love to point out Dabo's record against ranked opponents, and while I will be the first to agree that it absolutely MUST improve, you can't be overly critical of the losses and then downplay or not even acknowledge the seccesses.

You can't have it both ways.

Nov 20, 2014, 3:30 PM [ in reply to Dabo has done a fantastic job of beating teams that ]

We all want Clemson to win more, lose less, and take over college football.

You don't call for Dabo to be fired, but make sure to point out what he hasn't done. The innuendo is obvious.

If you're not intimating your wish to do away with Dabo, then what's the point?

Basically, it's just, "GUESS WHAT, WE HAVEN'T BEATEN USuC or FSU THE LAST 3 YEARS"!!!

Well, thanks for that news flash.

Nov 20, 2014, 3:57 PM

It doesn't have one other than to tear down the coach.

Pardon me if I'm carrying over some of the invective of a similar vein that's all over at STS, but that's what posting about Dabo's losing record to FSU and USuC while couching it in terms of 10-win teams, smacks of.

I heard on the radio yesterday that since 2009 in 19 games against Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Clemson, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Michigan USC is 17-2. Just saying you can pick and choose to get to any conclusion you want.
