Let's call out everybody who is to blame for this loss

Aug 31, 2014, 9:01 AM

In no particular order:

- Obviously we were too conservative in the 2nd half, put it on Chad and I assume Dabo for co-signing. Field position is a poor excuse. It put too much pressure on the defense to be perfect.

- We really don't have much at RB. CJ's the only guy who can really run it, but DJ's the only guy who can block. That puts us in a quandary regarding our offensive predictability. Gallman can't block a lick yet and was bad on special teams too.

- Our D-ends and LB/Nickle/SAM play was awful. Beasley, Dodd, and Wiggins were frequently the first man to the ball, none of them made tackles on first contact. They played soft. The LBs were not discipline and were frequently out of position (particular on the back side).

- Special teams did not look good at all except for Pinion. Lakip's miss deflated the team and the kickoff coverage is still bad. Gurley is good, but even I could run a kick back if there is a huge hole right down the middle to run through.

- It's embarrassing to get beat with same play over and over again. We couldn't stop the toss sweep if I our lives depended on it. That goes back to poor play on the outside, but you have to blame Venables for not getting it fixed.

- Mike Williams needs to be more consistent, he cost us some points in the 1st half. Seems like Hopper is our only deep threat. We need more guys to get down the field.

Good points, all.

It was clear the coaches did not have our boys ready in every facet of the game; from special teams to offensive play calling to physical domination (or lack thereof).

The most telling was the offense, but by the 4th quarter we showed we were weak across the board. It was not a proud moment for us. It makes you wonder what the heck the coaches were doing all year.

Why do we give Humphries so many opportunities?! I haven't seen anything good from him since early last season.
