was not used. The coroner report stated the injuries were consistent with a high powered rifle. Police stated an AR-15 was used.

AR-15 isn't "high powered". First reports stated the AR-15 was found in th car. Then stories changed, and they all started using terms like "allegedly" and "suspected" as CYA terms so that they can say they "didn't lie" based on the information they had.

.223 has high muzzle velocity. Muzzle energy is a different story (energy includes mass of projectile - .223 is small comparatively).
