Can 1 loss keep a team out of the CFP this year?

I know it depends on A LOT of factors, but is there one loss a contender couldn’t overcome and make the CFP this year?
I was thinking about Tennessee. If they lose convincingly to Georgia, they’re likely missing the SEC championship game and likely not making the CFP. Could the same be said for Georgia, with a convincing loss to Tennessee?
Again, I know it depends on a lot of things, but it’s fun to think “what if”.

Kirk Turdstreet Was Already Pushing a 1-Loss UGA

that has a regular season schedule easier than Daniel High as a Playoff contender if that loss was in SECCG.
Part of Kirk not being fired with the other ESPN shills was likely he must fluff-pump UGA once per segment now that Pollack is gone.

Herbie ALWAYS seems to push Georgia, even when it was

not in any way clear why. I think somebody on Kirby Smart's staff must have the proverbial pictures of Herbie in a compromising position with barnyard poultry. It is the only explanation that makes sense of why an avowed Ohio State guy would be pushing ANY SEC team, much less GEORGIA.

If Georgia's one loss prevents them from playing in and winning the SEC Championship. Their non-conference schedule shouldn't be good enough to get them in either.

Not sure it being fun to isolate a thousand variables and discuss a what if. History tells us a one loss team from a P5 conference would be in 98% of the time

No one other than UGA with their easy schedule is sticking out to me this year. I could see 2-two loss teams in the playoff this year.

Not 1 loss in and of itself. There will be at least two 1 loss teams in the playoffs. Always are.

Depends on who the team is.

One loss won't keep out a SEC team but it would quite possibly keep out an ACC team depending on the specifics.

Yet another year of this debunked narrative. A one loss ACC champion WILL NOT BE LEFT OUT OF THE PLAYOFF! We were nowhere close to playoff worthy last year but would’ve been in the playoff if we didn’t throw one single pass against Scar.

Would Clemson be left out if they go undefeated, and lose the conference championship to, lets say FSU who has one out of conference loss (LSU) and a loss to Clemson in conference regular season? I think it has to do with when you lose just as much as anything else.

This is correct. In this scenario, the ACC championship game is a playoff game. Winner is in. As it should be.

Clearly the answer is dependent on whether there are undefeated teams and how many 1 loss teams there are. Last year, Notre Dame was left out with 1 loss.

…Clemson, you can bet long and hard that getting into the CFP would take some sort of divine intervention.
I know that Clemson has made it to the CFP with 1-loss in the past, but the situation has changed drastically over the past 3 years.
In today’s CFP, agendas have to be met before merit.
