Although I'm a casual fan of the Kentucky Derby and have friends who attend it annually, I've never been. (And I live annually with the stories of what I'm missing...!) Anyway, it's just never occurred to me there may be Clemson grad's who have more than just a weekend of celebrated debauchery and a few bets on the line each year. This is fantastic, and thanks for sharing. On another note (opportunistically), to yourself and anyone who may by accident actually read my post, I'd like to recommend a terrific story, "Seabiscuit, An American Legend" by Laura Hillenbrand. Yes, many are familiar with the movie, and it's a terrific film, but if you read the book you'll discover a lot of otherwise undocumented American history, and a description of the eviscerating discipline, physical and societal hardship of what horse jockeys endure to make a living. Which reminds me of scholastic wrestling (re: Gage Cervenka, DT, Clemson Commit, unprecedented 4 time State Champion.) Sorry, this wasn't meant to be an editorial, but an appreciation of what you posted. And BTW, I appreciate the "epigraph" on your [Post Heading] by Henry David Thoreau.

I would also recommend the Seabiscuit book by Laura Hillenbrand. It is an excellent read authored by an excellent writer. Regarding the article about Kaleem Shah, even though he is from India and lives in Vienna, his horses race in red, white, and blue silks because he loves this country. His horse, Dortmund, enters the Derby undefeated. I have been pulling for him throughout the derby prep races, and hope he wins the big dance of horse racing.

Go Tigers!
