He made us relevant and had some awesome defensive players. I hope Clemson has since taken care of him after President on Clemson helped to run him out of town. I believe the NCAA pulled a fast one in 1989 threatening Clemson with serious probation if DF did not leave. Danny was building a power house and some college programs could not let that happen. If DF had stayed it would have been the time to shake up the ACC or move to a new conference. Swofford did not want to see Clemson succeed.
Many may disagree but Tommy Bowden made several positive contributions to Clemson Football to. Plus he was smart enough to hire Dabo and then had the courage to leave for the good of the program and recommend Dabo as the next HC.
If TB had been given the support and resources given to Dabo who knows how high TB could have taken the program. And I will say the same for Kenny Hatfield.
What a ride it has been since 1981. I love Clemson Athletics and the University. I wish Jim Philips could have seen the successful Decade on the Dabo and Co.
Agree re. Danny Ford. He made us a national Brand and he is not given the recognition by Clemson or Clemson fans that he deserves. And the sports media rarely if ever mention him. Youngest coach in D-1 football to ever win a natty and I think the record still stands.
