ATTN: Greenr/Clone/Outdoors people

Apr 4, 2014, 9:17 AM

Find me a knife on REI-outlet, please. I know nothing about camping knives/knives in general and I would like one.

Here is what they have, pick one:

Apr 4, 2014, 9:39 AM

Yours looks exactly like mine but with serrated.

I think I'd like the orange with the serrated blade.

Apr 4, 2014, 9:48 AM

I don't do a whole lot of cutting though.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Apr 4, 2014, 9:26 AM

Skin a griz? Or have all kinds nifty things like scissors, toothpicks, compass, gps, etc?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have my swiss army knife for everything really

Apr 4, 2014, 9:29 AM

But I just want a pocket knife with a serrated blade meant for killing humans.

Great answer.

I have this knife. Had it for years. Some reviewers have said the spring breaks down, that hasn't been my experience. It cuts anything and holds edge.

In my imagination, it will skin grizz, or kill a walker, or impress your friends at a pinch.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thanks

Apr 4, 2014, 9:35 AM

My swiss army knife isnt really a knife I want to use in camping situations and I have found myself carrying it every day, so I would like to replace it with something a little more appropriate for its intended use

Aside from looking cool, the ergonomics are terrible.

Kershaw Speedsafe 1980ST.

Apr 4, 2014, 9:34 AM

A ridiculously fine everyday knife for a ridiculously low price, and readily available at a lot of big box stores. Been carrying one for long enough to know it works well, and holds an edge.

AS with anything...it depends.

Apr 4, 2014, 9:45 AM

I'm not skinning wildlife. So mostly I take a leatherman cx skeletool with me.

Sharp knife, pliers when i need em. probably wouldn't help me much if i needed to kill something or cut down a tree.
