That was Tulane Stadium where the Sugar Bowl was played in those days .... not Death Valley.

This may have been the first televised appearance for a Clemson football game. I can't remember another prior to this. I know it was the first Clemson game that I ever saw. Clemson almost shut down the Heisman Trophy winner that day. A narrow loss on a bad snap from center led to the only points in a 7 - 0 win for the 'other' Tigers. I remember it as if was yesterday.

The old Sugar Bowl Stadium on Tulane's campus 2was torn down.
