I don't understand the why people don't like Yannity.

He did a fine job, in my opinion. "There's orange in the endzone" may have been a bit hokie, but other than that, he calls a game just fine. He is upbeat and has ability to cojunctly put a sentence together. He may not turn clever phrases all that often, but(let me be blasphemous here) Jim Phillips, the last few years of broadcasting sounded bored and slightly confused. The broadcast before Pete never had any energy.

We were coming off a 7-6 season, got blown out by UGA and then let Furman play us tough the week before JP passed. The entire Clemson fan base was bored back then.

We had it so good with Phillips and Fulton. I grew up listening to both. Now I struggle to listen to Ellis or Yannity. Charlie Mac was good for SC, but SC really dropped the ball with him.
I hope both schools can get the right guys in sooner than later. Fortunately, for Clemson I think they are less tied to Yannity since he isn't a Clemson guy, right? I am afraid we are stuck with Todd who would be fine for color commentary but his play by play is just bad.

I think they wanted a "Gamecock guy" instead of an "outsider". It really backfired. The fans really liked Charlie Mac, and he brought a real level of professionalism and experience (was Ole Miss's guy for a long while).
Same goes for Mike Morgan who was great for SC basketball and baseball. He never had the chops to be the football guy but EVERYONE was disappointed when he was terminated. Andy Demetra is a fan favorite right now who has taken the reigns in basketball and baseball. I also like the Clemson baseball guys (not Philpot so much but the other guys).

probably our last real Voice of the Tigers who had been on the job since the late 60s - JP was a tough act to follow.
Some say what may have hurt PY is that he wasn't more like Will Merritt - I'm not so sure if there's any truth to that, though.......
