The Heisman shouldn't be something that you campaign for, it's something you earn. Now I'm not so naive to think that a campaign wouldn't help, but numbers don't lie, and if Tajh only worries about the next game, the numbers will come and do the campaigning for him. Personally, I think the NCAA should ban school-run Heisman campaigns.

It shouldn't be. But it is, unfortunately...

Tajh will get all the media coverage he needs to win, between the kickoff UGA game, FSU mid-year, and SCAR to wrap up the season. All of these will provide a national platform. Having a Boyd bobblehead night at the Citadel game won't make any difference in his Heisman campaign.

If you want it you have to campaign.

Being the most valuable, moral or best college football player is no longer related to the Heisman award.
Tajh doesn't need the distraction. Tajh needs to focus on the the next game.
Clemson may well have made the decision based on a similar opinion at the advise of Dabo and Tajh. They aren't nearly as naive as we.

This is good news!

This means that Dabo & Chad are placing more emphasis on Tajh being focused on winning football games....
and not a meaningless trophy!!
I think Tajh would much rather hoist a crystal ball surrounded by his teamates, than be presented a heisman surrounded by strangers.
Go Tigers!!

Not sure it is meaningless.

Winning the Heisman is an impressive feat, and it would be great for Clemson if he were to win one.
Now - it is not more important than winning championships, it is not more important than the team or program. Also, I agree w/ TB - why bother spending the $ on it anymore...if he deserves it, he'll get it.

Beat UGA first, then discuss it.

Really doesn't matter until the Dawgs go down. That is priority #1!!!!! Once that happens, then the country will take Tajh VERY SERIOUSLY!

Yes ... no need for silly "Joey Harrington" hype ...

A Heisman Campaign pretty much begins and ends on the field with overall numbers, but particularly with great performances in high profile games.
Joey Harrington ended up in 4th place after Oregon spent a fortune with his ridiculous campaign.

Brent McMillian's Tweetie Bird said it all. Ignoring Tim B.'s comment would have meant he disagreed, don't 'cha think?

if we missed out on a player going to NY or winning the press vote because things weren't handled properly. ESPN may be giving Boyd some buzz now, but the closer we get to the actual season, ESPN will be focusing their attention to their revenue sucking contracts / manipulative sports writing.

Yes, and they really should stop slandering John Heisman's name by calling it the heisman award when it's really the ESECPN award.
