I'd like to clarify my take on Trump...........

Yes, he's a narcissist; he's rude and in attack mode 24/7; he tweets too much; he's absorbed with himself; he's easy to dislike; he offends people; he pisses people off................BUT.......................he's the only thing between YOU and ME and higher taxes, higher unemployment, big government shoving us around, open borders, more sanctuary cities, having our guns controlled, more regulations, the Green New Deal, religious suppression, kissing China's butt, dissing Israel, sharing bathrooms with the opposite sex, less women in government, defunded police forces, free health care for illegals (paid by us), more welfare, no bail for crimes, transgender men competing with women, higher poverty rates and God knows what the extreme Marxist anarchists can dream up to screw us....
Think about that NOW and when you're in the voting booth in a few months......should be an easy choice for any rational patriotic American. Let's pull Trump to victory, then we can elect Nikki Haley as the first female president in 2024.
Not to mention, do we really want a seriously cognitively impaired Biden puppet in the Oval Office being 'handled' by Marxist Socialist extremists like Pelosi, Schitt, Schumer, AOC, Ilan Omar and Nadler!?

No, he won't...but neither will he embrace them, which is driving the Bernie Bro set insane...which far-right folks would know if they actually bothered to ever talk to anybody outside their own narrow group. But tribalism and fear and ignorance of other groups is kind of the hallmark of the modern GOP...which is, incidentally, why they're tanking in the polls, Trumpists have made everyone else their enemies.
(As an aside, it didn't have to be that way, and it still doesn't. There's a boatload of smaller groups huddled under the Democrats' messy Big Tent coalition that could be the GOP's for the taking...in particular Latinos, who by culture are more Christian and conservative even than your typical white American. That doesn't even require open borders, just embracing the Latin community that already exists here in the states, and above all else, toning down the xenophobic rhetoric, but nevermind all that.)
Whatever. The point is, Biden's a centrist, always has been. He is assuredly not in bed with the far left and pays just enough lip service to their causes that they give him their votes ahead of Donald Trump, but he's not their friend or really even their ally and they know it. There was an incredible amount of despair and wailing when the centrists all lined up behind Joe in the primary when it briefly looked like Bernie might actually win the nomination. Actually talk to some really woke SJW's sometime; you'll get an earful. They really don't like Joe Biden.
The problem is the political distribution in this country. America really isn't a leftist country. Polls repeatedly indicate the distribution is actually about 25-40-35, with only about 25% of the country identifying as "liberal" and a much heavier 35% identifying as "conservative"...with the bulk lying in the middle. Look to places like Sweden or Norway or even France and those proportions would skew much heavier the other direction.
America's a center-right nation...and if you look hard, Trump's support is indeed trickling down back to that natural 35% of pure hardcore conservatives as the moderates desert him and flock to Biden's camp. That's what happens when you play to the base, and only the base.
If you're going to put together a winning voting bloc, you have to build a coalition. Biden's doing just enough to secure a least a portion of that 25% of the population that calls themselves liberals while scooping up the bulk of that 40%-or-so that identify as independents or moderates, and that's why he's got a good 10-14 point lead in the polls right now.
Trump left the center lane wide open, and Biden's cruising right down it.

There isn't another choice.
Our system is binary because of the way our system says we vote.
If you want more options on the menu, you have to demand more options on the menu. "Ranked choice voting" is the way you achieve that.
It literally changes everything. Look into it.

I agree with ranked voting, but in November if you don't like Joe or Trump, there is another choice. You can send a message that you are sick and tired of the status quo, and that the two major parties either need to be held accountable and change or they will be replaced. But if you want to keep it business as usual... go right ahead. I just don't think voting for Trump is a good idea, and I don't think handing the country over to whatever unnamed people are puppeting Biden is a great idea.

KYS. We don't owe our votes to ANYONE. Since you are for a two party system you obviously hate freedom, but Johnson voters don't. We believe in something called "liberty". You wouldn't like it. It's not a huge government program or a secret weapon system, but it's what we stand for. Sorry to inconvenience the two parties that pretend to care every 4 years and then go back to destroying our country and stealing our liberty.

I salute everybody who votes their conscience. That's what everybody should do.
But there are a couple of IMPLICATIONS made by "third party" proponents, whether intended or not intended, that simply aren't true.
1) You must vote third-party to send a message that you are unhappy with the binary system. Now I don't consider a third party vote to be wasted vote. But what long-lasting message is it sending? Who is listening? What difference has it made?
2) A vote for someone that you have some fundamental disagreements with is somehow betraying your convictions. Third-party votes in this election will most likely have an effect on this election. I am voting against Biden as much as I am voting for Trump. There is nothing attractive about Biden for me personally. I'm am acting in a way that strategically supports my convictions.

But, you have to admit that voting for the lesser of two evils or staying home is what got us Hillary v Trump and now Biden v Trump. If everyone voted for the candidate they felt was the best neither Trump nor Joe would have a snowballs chance.
As far as long lasting effects... I think it would be great to have a legit third party. A third party would keep the other two parties in check, and stop the political games. Instead of playing the "which team is in power these two years" game, everyone would have to actually write good bills and convince people from other parties to vote for them. That would be a great thing in my mind.
As far as who is listening, depends how many votes. Let's say Jo gets 20% of the vote. You better believe both parties will sit up and listen to that. Both parties only care about power and control, and the threat of losing that will be a huge wake up call. It's why they fought Perot so hard. And if you look back, he was right about almost everything.

I think that ranked voting system would be great.
I also think the reason we have what we have, with our hair on fire, is media and social media. Most people, on both sides, see a headline or soundbite and freak out without verifying it.
Good grief, I've become so skeptical.

KYS isn't actually telling someone to do that, it's just a saying. When you tell someone to eff off, it's not like you are telling them actually to do that. And it's almost always in jest.
No reason for T3T to get her panties in a wad. If Franc was offended then I will apologize to him. He's a good guy and I didn't mean anything bad by what I said.

Wait... what?
Jul 3, 2020, 2:26 PM
|
|
1. Trump can't do anything about taxes. 2. Our unemployment is through the roof now. I'm not arguing it's all his fault, but he owns some of it. 3. Trump has embraced and pushed for bigger federal government and control. 4. Nobody has done anything to our guns. Did Obama and a Dem Congress take our gun rights away? No? This is always a red herring. 5. We didn't have open borders before Trump. 6. He hasn't stopped sanctuary cities. He can't. 7. Green New Deal will never happen. Even the major Dems don't support it. 8. Religious oppression? Give me a break. Christians dominate everything. 9. China? Like encouraging them to open concentration camps? 10. Yeah, our relationship with Israel was real bad before Trump. :\ 11. ### does the bathrooms have to do with anything and ### has Trump done about it? 12. He hasn't put more women in government. 13. Police force funding comes from local levels, not federal. 14. Nobody is pushing free health care for illegals. 15. Welfare is the same. 16. Huh? Since when don't we get bail for crimes? That's all a state thing, anyway. Only two charges in SC warrant no bail (murder and 1st degree burglary) and a circuit judge can eventually set it. 17. Trump hasn't been able to do anything about transgender stuff (except the dumb military ban) and why do you care what they do? 18. Poverty is still kicking. 19. Right. Because before Trump, we were just swimming in Marxism.
You've highlighted the problems with Trumpies. Y'all are so very, very, very uninformed about him, what he's done, what he has the power to do, and the presidency.
Try turning off OAN.
