Did you look them up after hearing about Amick transfer and his affiliation? Or if you talked about it with Facebook open, they can mic your discussions.
Three yrs ago, talked to buddy about business insurance, phones were not used but both of us got either ads or emails about insurance the following week.

My wife and I had that happen on multiple occasions but the weirdest one was a few years ago, we were driving down the road on a trip to see my son in Chapin and were just talking about getting a new truck. Nobody with us and it was the only time we were together talking about trucks. Next day I was bombarded on FB and with emails re: new trucks. All brands. I still don't know if it was by the iPhone or the truck but someone heard us talking and acted on the information. Scary!

I don't have other SM apps like Twiiter, IG or TicTok, just FB. I have had Androids since day one and always used Google or Chrome. After I had random advertisements pop-up after having spoken about items on the phone or in general with someone, I narrowed the culprit down to FB. If you read the advertising agreements you approve when you sign up for FB, there is a section about access to your phone's mic. I ended up reading a bunch of stories about it online.
A recent one was when I was talking to my mother about Christmas gift for my father. They live in Iowa, I told her she should buy dad a battery operated snow shovel to do the sidewalks and I named a few. Next thing I know, I was getting all kinds of ads about snow shovels.
I got a new phone a few months ago and it has a setting that shuts down all apps in the background you want if not using. I think its in the battery save mode but I use the setting and haven't noticed this issue. But it is definitely scarey as you know big brother could listen anytime they wanted.

Facebook.
I was talking to a coworker about about industrial equipment. Apparently, Siri heard us and the first thing that popped on his Facebook feed was an advertisement for forklifts in our area.
Big Brother is most assuredly listening and watching. Watch The Social Dilemma on Netflix. Scary stuff.
