Who knew the Mongols made it as far west as Austria, Poland, and Hungary plundering European bootys every steppe of the way.
I highly suspect there are some folks among us on tigernet who may be mongoloids and not even know it!

I think he had the original Pony express - it possible the Romans did something similar but they could not ride like a Mongolian wanting to please the Khan.
He establish way stations with horses and riders every day ride distance in all directions of his Empire. If something happened he knew about right away in terms of communication of that time period. Its one way he was able to move troops to counter his adversaries.

The Mongols were great horsemen and had very sturdy horses to ride. They were also great at surviving, and during tough rides through harsh conditions the Mongols would bleed their horses and drink the blood for sustenance. Peaches, did your study cover this.

Gingivitis Khan and his grandson, Kookie Khan. The former had bad mouth disease, and the latter was a weirdo.
Yet, they conquered vast territories and were known as the Terrors of the High Steps.

Curious post but Constantinople/Istanbul was the breeding crossroads of the world throughout the Roman Empire and beyond ... based on my 2007-14 trips to Turkey, visitors can see a remarkable swath of genetics from dark skin/dark eyes to blonde hair/blue eyes and every other variation ...

Had a great friend in Avery County, was royalty from Hungary , descended from the Huns and an officer in the Hungarian Calvery. Said Hungarian horses were no match for the German tanks. Was captured and conscripted into the German army to carry supplies to the Russian front. Captured by the Russians and spent four years in Siberia. Transported back to Hungary at war’s end and emigrated to Canada where citizenship was promised after four years of farm labor. Said those four years were tougher than anything he experienced in Siberia. Gained citizenship which included Commonwealth citizenship, of course. Taught university in Rhodesia before the uprising. Ended up at Berkeley teaching forestry and then to NC when the political climate of the early 70s didn’t suit him. Yes, the Huns were tough peoples.
