Just a Memorial Stadium Question....

I am going to be passing through Clemson (purposely) on my way to Florida. Never been there and I cannot wait, I am just wondering if it is possible to go inside Memorial Stadium and walk around to check the place out?
It will be in almost a month, the last week of July. Thank you in advance for any info, God Bless & Go Tigers!

I don't know if it possible to get any kind of official tour, but usually if there are guys working on the stadium they will let you in and you can look around. Two years ago my seats changed and the guys working let me go in and look to see where my new seats were going to be.

during the normal workweek (M-F 8-4), and you can usually walk right in around the field if you're alone or in a small family group. Some staff person might approach you, but they should let you walk around unless there is some field work or construction going on. I know they are working on the scoreboards this summer, so not sure if you can get on The Hill right now or not.

anything else? Just let us know if you want some suggestions.
With school out it will be pretty quiet but that should also allow you to do just about anything you want to.
You'll need to come back for a game day one day when you can. The transformation is amazing - like one big family having a big orange tiger paw clad party!

the stadium is beautiful, one of my favorite places there is. Just across the street from the Howards Rock / The Hill is the Scroll of Honor. It honors all the CU folks who have given the supreme sacrifice for our freedom and our country. It is beautiful and moving experience to go there.
Also just up the street above the stadium is Fort Hill the original homsite for Mr Clemson and John C Calhoun. That is worth a visit too if you have no time constraints

You've been a Clemson fan since '79 and haven't been able to make it to visit yet? I admire your dedication. I'm not sure I would be nearly the fan I am without having fully experienced campus/gamedays.
I highly recommend checking out the Esso Club for lunch or dinner if you're there around that time. It's a Clemson institution and a delicious one at that.

Be sure to stop by the Police station in the stadium to get

a vistor's parking pass. You will need your license and registration, but without it, you will get a ticket if you park on campus (voice of experience talking here.)
Stop by the visitor's center (you can call and get in on a tour if you want - they are set up for prospective students, but you will get a walk around campus.) They can give you a map of campus also.

Touring with prospective students would actually be fun

You could pretend to be a parent!
The tour is pretty short (less than an hour). I did it twice in two years and learned something each time even though I went to Clemson.
It's also funny to hear what the kids talk about and what the kids in summer school shout out - we heard a lot of "come here!" and "Go Tigers!"

I remember coming during high school and being able to walk all around and even go in the press boxes and the WestZone. No one was around! But, since then I think security has improved. You still might be able to get on to the field.

Thanks again everyone for the kind remarks, I will take everything into consideration. I am planning on spending the night and taking in everything I can including Mr. Knickerbocker's.
In '79 I turned 12 and have loved Clemson ever since. I have finally made up my mind to visit and I plan on attending a game very soon. Until now I have never really been afforded the oppurtunity.
The first time I ever watched Clemson was when I was 11 and it was the '78 Gator Bowl and the famous punch by Woody Hayes. I was brainwashed a buckeye as a child but as I got older grew to despise their fanbase and still do while at the same time took a big interest in Clemson, I absolutely love the enthusiasm and fight song.
Just a little side note, my girlfriend's ex father-in-law was first cousin's with Woody Hayes, she met him a couple of times at family reunions and did not care for him whatsoever. (putting it mildly) hahaha PEACE!!
