Who has done more damage to the integrity of college sports?

ESPN or NIKE
I believe that I'm going with NIKE due to the Human Rights violations with their overseas production facilities that put employees in horrible circumstances...then add on all of the shady business deals with colleges & recruits make them even more corrupt.

the college football conferences we have all enjoyed over the last 50-75 years.
ESPN is a bad actor in the this play. They are pushing this mega conference to bring more money to ESPN, that is ALL this is about. If this does moves through, it will ultimately eliminate college football as we know it.

So enlighten me then. Big 12 came from the Big 8 and Southwest conferences. Only 4 teams from the SWC went to the Big 12 and at the time of the merger only 2 were worth anything. Arkansas left a few years before the end of the SWC, and TAMU left nearly a decade ago. Of the 8 schools from the Big 8 conference, 3 have already left. With the previous departure of many of the other big schools; Colorado, Nebraska, Arkansas, TAMU, Missouri (I guess). What tradition is there to uphold, especially for Texas? The OU - OSU rivalry seems to be the only tradition remaining that is lost.
I prefer the regionalism of college football, but that’s really been lost for a while now.

Between the inflated Cost of Attendance, NIL and TV Money, it is no where close to being an amateur sport any more. That may be fine for some but if I wanted to support professional football, I would be a Panthers or Falcons fan. Now IPTAY is about to kick my out of seats after I have been in IPTAY in those seats (and donated well above the required level) for almost 30 years. Why? Money. So they can have West End Zone club seats.
When that happens I am out. I will devote my attention to true amateur sports like softball and watch my college football on TV.
Not expecting sympathy, it is what it is. I will just choose to part ways with college football when the last straw breaks. Corporations and others will gladly take my seats and I hope they do for Clemson.

Schools are NCAA. it is not some corporation in Indy. Great people - really smart people have and do work there. It was charged with enforcing rules schools made, conducting championships in a gazillion sports at three different divisions and interpreting rules. It’s only fault? It had no power.
Fault for this pro football we are now seeing? Really? QB at Alabama has never played and he has 800 K in endorsements? 13.6 million annually for 3 coaches? Fault? Schools. They have been spineless. Let athletics get outside the mission of the school, let athletics fund (or not) itself and allowed athletics to spend like a grove of money trees is in backyard. Horse out of barn - well down the road- and money - the love of it - has ruined a great model for sport at college level.

Technically, college is supposed to be about an education. That is far more important for these kids than anything else. We all know the statistics about getting into and staying in the nfl and how much money. One of the reasons im glad Dabo and Co. have made the Paw Journey such a big part of the experience. But, i digress. With the institution of nil and, potentially, unionization, the cataclysmic de evolution of college football is imminent. I used to love watching the nfl. Now, with all the drama and prima donnas trying to tell me is what ethical or moral, i dont pay much attention. And like you were saying, it wont be long before i have to back away from even my beloved Tigers.

I say both ESPN supplied the TV money and promoted the SEC. Look back to see how many coaches have be fired for running less the honest programs. If you have to buy your way to the top that proves the SEC is only the top conference because more coaches approach recruit’s showing them the $$$$.

Mark Emert (spelling?) the supposed president of the NCAA. He is the most clueless, absentee leader of any organization I have ever seen. He has just sat back snd allowed the SEC to make their own rules and bully their way into anything they want. He had no clue or plan to deal with expansion, NIL, transfer rules, etc. even though he knew all of it was coming. Even now with a huge shift between conferences you hear nothing from the governing body.

the network that was first to televise tons and tons of college games every week. Not just the biggest ones. The advent of college gameday, shows dedicated strictly to college football.
ESPN made college football the star studded sport that it is and has turned it into a huge lucrative business.
There's not way a real college football fan could say that's a bad thing

People are forgetting about the time when few college football games were on TV, and you had to listen on the radio or wait until the Sunday paper to see the scores.

NCAA. Their complete lack of consistency in penalties for violations, their lack of concern for academics - nothing Nike or ESPN has done comes close.
And, by the NCAA I mean the presidents of the universities in the NCAA.
