If Phillips is really a smart guy he would have seen this coming a couple of years ago when he took the job. But, here he is, collecting a nice check, full well knowing there is nothing he can do about this mess. Must be nice, making a lot of $$$ without having to do anything but make lame speeches.

The Big12 hired a guy with free enterprise experience. The ACC hired a guy with administrative experience. Can you notice the difference?

They gave us best effort when they brought on Syracuse, Boston College and Pittsburgh. Really thought that would have taken the ACC to the next level. 😳😳

solution to a problem when your livelihood depends on you NOT finding it." That particular quote was aimed at the fact that there were several highly placed oil barons on a committee that was looking for sustainable alternative fuels.
Now, Jim Phillips is partially hamstrung by the same GOR that FSU says their lawyers have looked at for over a year and have not come up with a way to break. He, and the rest of the ACC can thank John Swofford for that death warrant. But, as has been pointed out, all the schools agreed to it at the time. Why is a whole other issue, for which I have no answers.
Butt, that document pretty much renders the ACC dead to anyone looking to poach any schools, unless and until it IS challenged and beaten in a court of law. Either that, or these 3rd party financiers have to infuse a billion dollars to get select schools out, or to establish co-ownership of the ACC with ESPN. Hard to see what they would get in return for their investment in any kind of co-ownership deal, but that is the only possible way I see the ACC surviving as a conference. Somehow, the $$$ have to be made comparable to the BIG and SEC.
