Pretty convenient that as soon as the Republican's oust the speaker and vow that not another cent will go to Ukraine that a new conflict arises.
One that is sure to get people's support because "we have to protect Israel".

We protect those who attack Israel by intervening in the conflict. Israel is well capable of handing any of its enemies both foreign and domestic.
What your doing is accusing the US of backing Hamas or whoever has attacked Israel. That's a foolish view seen only through a political lens. Blinded by politics is no way to go through life.

The Biden Admin just moved 6 billion from a South Korean bank where it was held to a bank in Qatar for Iran.
Qatar is the banking hub for all islamic extremist groups and yes that is a known situation. That is why the admin is going on about fungibility. Qatar has that 6 billion is escrow for financing extremist activities including the attack on Israel. The Hamas attack was planned and given the green light by Iran.
And if that is not enough, the smaller arms left in Afghanistan were smuggled into Gaza for this purpose.
So yes the current installed administration DID functionally aid Hamas in this attack

It would be more accurate to say Israelis believe the UN gave them that piece of land creating modern Israel. Strange (but not) that it’s also the UN that prevents them from protecting their borders/people. Seems the “international community” believes every country has the right to defend themselves…except for Israel.

I agree with this, but I do not think it permits us to sit idly by. But what to do?
Hamas stated Iran paid and planned for this - not encouraging. I would hope we are expending a great deal of diplomatic capital trying to keep a lid on things in hopes it will not spread.
Israel is a pretty amazing place in that they seem really quite capable, but I would think there would be some sort of relief effort organized by some charitable group or other NGO to which we might send money.

I understand your point but the reality is our US interests are best protected in the Middle East with a strong Israel. If they fall and the Middle East devolves into a Regional war then the vaccuum gets filled by our enemies and they become a collective threat to the US and our way of life. The Axis of Evil becomes a dominant force backed by our other Middle Eastern enemies supported by China and Russia. Like it or not, defending Israel is also defending America. We either fight our enemies there or we have to prepare to fight them on our own soil.

Israel doesn't need us. We should assist them but we should not try to control their actions. If we get involved it will be to limit the damage Israel does to its enemies.
Imo, if Israel turn the dogs loose on Iran or anyone backing the terrorist the conflict would end for fear of opposing such a great power.
I believe that is going to happen someday. Some moron nation is going to lob a nuke at Israel and before the US knows what's going on Israel will wipe them off the map. The entire world will turn against Israel and feel sorry for those who effed with them in the first place.

I don't believe that. I remember them winning a war in 6 days. There was a joke: An arab was standing in a valley and one Israelite was standing on the hill. The Israelite said 'Come on and get some!'
The Arab ran up the hill and turned immediately to his troops and screamed 'Turn back, there's two of them.'
Israel is the best armed nation in the world excluding the US and China right now. Their weaponry is second to none and might be the most sophisticated on the planet. Israel can care for itself.
The US only hopes to prevent Israel from opening a giant can of whoopass on their enemies. We don't protect them, we protect those who attack them by executing the war on their behalf and controlling the damage done to Israel's enemies.
I love Israel enough to turn it loose on those who seek to do it harm.

The Yom Kippur War involved Egypt and Syria. It did not involve Iran and the $6B our President just returned to them to be used for planning activities to go after us and our allies. If this thing doesn't get ratcheted down quickly, it could stoke a much broader conflict that drags us into it in a much bigger way.
