It’s not so much Trevor being off as it is the play calling

Not complaining glad we won but Trevor plays better when he gets good and lathered with a few easy completions. Play calling is stale and unimaginative.

It seems the dc knows the play we are running before we snap the ball just saying. No open receivers.

You are correct. Carolina played and called their game of the season because it was. Until you get that killer instinct which is a ruthless determination to succeed or win, you will relay powder blue to a baby instead of kill.

Observations: We are much too talented to play the way we did today. Why did we stop running Etienne in the second half? I agree with others that we are not throwing to the middle. (Many of our passes are not high percentage. I am still not sold on our offensive line. With that being said we have all the ingredients to have a great year.

Agree he looked good moving around today and throwing over the middle. We could have got Ross and Higgins the ball today a lot more

Stale and unimaginative = VANILLA

We're playing very conservatively on offense. Sitting on a whole lot of stuff to be brought out when needed.
That play where Powell lined up in the backfield was new. He had a LOT of real estate in front of him, but he fell the EFF down. He FELL. THE. EFF. DOWN.
We'll show a little more as time goes on. Today was a vanilla gameplan on offense. If the OL had blocked worth a fudge, we would have rolled.
Relax. We're saving a lot of stuff for the home stretch.

This thread could be from any September/early October of the past five seasons...the wailing and gnashing of teeth...and your answer would be the same time each and every time. It's the cadence of this team every season...one would think folks had figured it out by now. Oh, well...
BTW, I chuckled when I saw double-stacks on that third down play in the 3rd quarter. I knew it would be a first down. It was. And you're right on Powell, he had gobs of daylight...it was mentioned on the air. Dart turf monsters!
Lastly, if there was going to be a game like this, today was the day. Almost preordained with Dabo's relationship with Brown.

this offense will open up a big ol' can of whoopazzzzzz.
I do wish our OL had executed better in this vanilla scheme. We should have been able to win the LOS and didn't. That was a little disappointing

They played 2 high all day and left 7 close to the line and made us be methodical. We had to many mental mistakes to drive the ball consistently. They need the week off to get mentally ready for the next 6 games. After 5 games the best you can be is 5-0, which we are. I wasn't thrilled with the way we played but we pulled it out and move forward!

I'm starting to think we just might not be that good. Sure we dominated Texas A&M but they seem to be terrible. Need to mature fast, or we will get beat by someone.

I liked the play where TL runs outside the tackle then throws just before the LOS and hoped it would be used a couple more times since the WR was well open. The DB has to make a quick decision who to cover. Think it would help keep the defense more honest if they're going to run TL on draws and off tackle. Also liked Chalk on the short turn out routes, but not over the middle for 20+ yards. Don't think he's athletic enough to turn and catch at full speed.
