Snake bit at WR?

Or did this staff just miss in recruiting / not develop our WR room?
Cade hurt, Williams hurt, and Stellato always hurt. That's been unfortunate, but outside of Williams, do you honestly think any of those WRs will end up in the NFL?
I know it's fun to bash Grisham, but maybe he's turned the corner in recruiting. It's hard to imagine who we have coming in doesn't get playing time.
This coming season will be interesting to watch. If we don't see a standout at WR this season, this question is to get louder.
It seems like everyone we play has a serious threat at WR, so why can't Clemson? For how many seasons are we going to use injury as an excuse?

Cole is yet to be determined. Sure, he had a wonderful diving catch in the 22 acc championship game. A few flashes here and there but we really don't know since it was season ending. But we also haven't seen Noble Johnson or Ronan when both were highly touted by our staff.
But if we can't have a dynamic passing game with the kids on staff and the two coming in, then we have major problems. Wesco is an nfl first round with any development. A 3 year guy for sure.
However, I honestly believe this year was more about Cade and the oline not holding up. I mean let's be honest, when Kentucky D went to prevent and were dragging that last drive, Cade was given time to let routes develop and we saw guys open. Cade still has poor pocket awareness and still has issues anticipating our receiver is going to be where they're supposed to be. Ie throwing guys open.
It took us 8 games to make a change in scheme on the oline and it took Shipley getting hurt to free mafah.

Still, there are so many issues on the offense that it’s extremely difficult to pin point the single most glaring issue.
All I can say is that we don’t have a single WR that scares you and that’s a huge disappointment for this program.

It's hard to throw a guy open if the guy cannot outrun the DB.
Our current crop of WRs cannot or will not block effectively, cannot or will not run a route that actually gets them open, and cannot simply run past a DB.
I don't recall any wide open post routes that would allow QB to make an easy (but long) throw. How many times did Higgins, Ross, Williams...just blow buy their man on a post, or break someone ankle (for Ross, literally) with a juke move? None of that this year or last year.
OL certainly makes things worse, but I think maybe moving away from RPO will help.
Klubnik needs to have the game slow down and be able to make better decisions, but OL needs to give him time to go through the progressions.
OL and QB play have issues, but to me the WR room's failures are fundamental.

I agree about Cade and the o-line. He made some nice throws when he had time against Kentucky but when pressured he tends to make mistakes. Matt Luke was a great hire and I do expect him to improve the o-line play.
One encouraging thing was the light seems to have turned on for Randall. He played well in the Gator and if Wesco and Moore are legit ( and they look great on film) then we will have the best mix of receivers we have had in 4 years. Somehow we went from having a great slot and two talented guys on the outside to all tall lanky receivers and no slot. Then we flipped to all slot type receivers this year.
The mix we have next year could be just what we have been waiting for. Big possession receiver that can win a 50/50 ball, burner that can take to top off the defense, and a reliable 1st down machine at slot. maybe we see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I agree, I think Randall breaks out next year....big body WR and showed some flashes late in the year. I think we'll be alright at WR with the 2 highly touted FR coming in as well.

Everyone is on the verge of stardom, right?
I remember all the talk about Pennington (sp?). Has he even seen the field?

Misses in recruiting, horrible development, WR just didn’t have “it”.
I don’t see any WRs on our two deep in 2023 as an NFL WR (this includes Williams/brown and they’re our best ones). Browns a maybe because he was a talented freshman. Just because Cole Turner had one long fingertip catch over a year ago doesn’t mean he’s going to be an impact go to WR.
WR is the #1 reason for our downfall/slide over the last 4 years and NOW oline is a big issue and QB is a ? In some people’s minds (even though imo we can be elite with Cade w/ better supporting cast)

I don't know why people want to make up things snd not just accept reality.
The truth is, the reason we have have problems at receiver is that the best players simply didn't want to come to Clemson. That's the reason.
The injuries are a legitimate issue. One reason they happen is because we can't stretch the defense, so opponents can play downhill against us. That means our guys are taking harder hits, and thus our guys have more opportunity to get injured.

Our team talent now compared to 2015-2019 especially offensively is a steep drop off.

The issue is, it's not that simple. Tou can't kidnap players and bring them here. They gave decide to come here. The problem is, for the last few years, the top receivers simply did not want to come here. They wanted to go to different schools.
It's not an unwilling on the part of the coaches. They just have to figure out how to attract top receivers to Clemson. I'm hopeful that thus process has already turned the corner, with the incoming freshmen.

But is it because we are being outbid for the 5star receivers? Can’t imagine all big times recruits all of sudden do not want to come to Clemson.

Agree with most of what everyone has mentioned here. I would like the mention that I was really pleased with Stellato. If you break the season down, Tyler Brown was easily our most successful receiving threat the first half of the season, but Stellato really emerged as that for the second half. Brown was making flash plays every week until his health came Into play (honestly he probably just wore down over his first collegiate season). Stellato is a different type of receiver, so his presence did not bring the flash of Brown, but he showed himself to be a great route runner and he was easily our most competitive receiver.
I think Stellato has a high ceiling working short to intermediate game for us. Great hands, short area burst, and ultra competitive. I know it has taken him a long time to get over the injury bug and out of the doghouse, but he took a beating the last few games and kept coming back for more.
They key to it all will be having a QB that has poise and can deliever on time, throwing receivers open without getting rattled.
