So, this is the song they played during every break in the game?

If it keeps the team playing like they did this weekend, play it every game.

I love it. I understand why it annoys some people, but it seems to work so well as a rally song when Clemson's hitting. It just creates this inevitable sensation that the Tigers are going to come back, and there's nothing the visiting team can do to stop it. Plus, it gets the crowd fired up.

We play it every time the opposing pitcher throws a ball and FSU’s bullpen threw a lot of them in the critical late innings yesterday and today Go Tigers!!!

In the Louisville series last season.

It was the Louisville series. That was the first home series last year when it really became apparent that the team had turned things around. After the 2-7 start to the conference season, everyone had pretty much left them for dead. Then they slowly started climbing back. The Tigers took 2 on the road from FSU to come home 4-8, where they won 2 more against Notre Dame at DKS to move to 6-9. Then Clemson went back on the road for 2 weeks, and all of a sudden, they caught fire. The Tigers won 5 out of 6 on the road against NC State and Boston College. Incredibly, the same Tigers who were 2-8 after game 1 at Florida State were now returning to Doug Kingsmore Stadium a game over .500 at 11-10. Clemson baseball had suddenly come alive, surprising almost everyone.

The team that had looked like a sure bet to have a losing season now had legitimate postseason chances. As expected, the fan support and energy was back at DKS for the Louisville series now that the team was performing well. And the Tigers didn't disappoint them, sweeping the series against Louisville. While the scores might not indicate this, all 3 of those games were tight until the end, with Clemson not taking the lead until the 7th inning in each of the first 2 games. The Sunday game was a bit more comfortable, but even then the Tigers only had a 3-run lead until adding another run in the 7th. They first started playing We Like To Party during Clemson's scoring rallies in the late innings of the first 2 games of the series. I don't know who's idea it was, but the song seemed to fit the circumstances well, and the Tigers kept having success with it, so it just sort of stuck on.

The song got the fans excited, and it seemed to help build Clemson's momentum when it was played incessantly while the Louisville relief pitchers struggled to throw strikes and during the frequent mound visits by the Cardinals' pitching coach. Of course, the Tigers got plenty of hits as well. That series sort of cemented the song's status as Clemson's rally song. It just fit the mood so perfectly, and not only of the rallies during each individual game. The song also seemed to capture the fanbases excitement and surprise, both the joy of Clemson baseball finally being good again and the amazement and disbelief at just how hot the team was. They just weren't losing, like, at all. That's not something you usually see in baseball, even for very good teams. There are almost always a few losses mixed in, it really was hard to fathom. They continued playing it frequently during the North Carolina series as well, which was also a series of mostly close games down the stretch, once again providing many ideal situations for the rally song to be played.

Song or no song, the April 28th loss against BC would end up being the last time that Clemson would lose a game until the infamous Tennessee game in June. Amazingly, the same Tigers that lost the South Carolina series, got swept at home by UCF (prompting the embarrassing hill incident), and lost 3 straight series to start ACC play would enter regionals with an ACC championship, an undefeated month of May, and ranked as the #4 overall seed in college baseball, Clemson's highest seed entering regionals in well over a decade. Maybe the song had something to do with that, maybe it didn't matter. But I think it's pretty easy to see why it stuck. And hearing it will always bring back fond memories for me of the incredible season that was 2023 Clemson baseball. And perhaps even more incredibly, the 2024 team already looks like they may be able to top that.
