Issaqueena ###

Do the kids/ students still go out there to swim and slide down the back of the ###?

Access is harder due to fences at the top

Issaqeena D am is still a great spot on Lake Hartwell, but in recent years fences were put up to deter people from walking out onto the structure and sliding or jumping. Not to say, it cannot be done.

It sure was fun to slide down years ago...as long as you had a thick pair of cutoff jeans.

Now, it is subject to Prohibited Activity #5 from this Clemson University bulletin... https://www.clemson.edu/public/experimental-forest/documents/reguls_for_cef.pdf

Sorry. That TD was unintentional.

I was there last summer. Even with fences, access is easy.

And yea, we’re still sliding down that bad boy.

Not like back in our day. That said, the sliding surface is much worse than back then.

I go by boat quite often and occasionally see someone (my guess is locals) slide down.

Re: Issaqueena ### - brings back a flood of memories

Grew up in the area about 4 or 5 miles from there in Central. We would go up there occasionally to fish off the ### or near it in the 70s and 80s. Then some of you crazy kids back then would come in there making a bunch of noise. I wasn't brave enough to slide down it. My bros and I would also fish along the dirt road going down there where there was access to the lake and have contests to see who would catch the most, crappie, perch and bream. We also used to run up there sometimes from Daniel HS for conditioning.

The craziest thing I did was walk down in there with a couple of high school buddies one afternoon or evening. On the way back it got dark and we saw a couple of people up on the hill beside the dirt road with a flashlight doing something. It got a little scary but when you're young you feel invincible.

my self and a couple buddies were actually crazy enough to jump off the concrete platform on the left side of the ### into the lake below. About a 30 foot drop and you had to jump out to avoid hitting the concrete protruding at the bottom. I can't believe I did that when I go down there to Mountain bike these days.

Took my son hiking there and watched two guys do that a couple of years ago. Crazy.

D am is not a "vulgar" word. That word has an "n" as the last letter.

For that matter d Ike isn't a vulgar or inappropriate word if used in the correct context.

Tigernet seems written for children, all the way down to this silly pulse system

Which some folks: with nothing better to do in life, to abuse it.

Take BBO for instance. That lady has nearly 20,000 TDs, and she votes for herself 25-30x per day.

If that’s not a child playing on a childish, broken system, then I don’t know what is. The moderators just don’t seem to care, then they wonder why donors are at 11% and dropping. The team here has no customer-centric polling system for some reason. They act like dictators on a free site, and ask for more money.

I’m sorry, but I don’t get it.

My dad helped build the ### and associated picnic facilities as part of a WPA project back in the 30s. Lots of time there aa a kid and good memories.

I knew some people who dove off it. I wouldn’t do that but I slid down it many times. I knew a guy who went over it in a kayak. Backwards. I was in summer school in 1977 and my roommate and I went out there nearly every day. It was great fun and didn’t cost anything.

My youngest daughter and her friends did...

and she graduated in 2019. Definitely harder to access now than it was back in my day. Much easier to access by boat.

Sorry...no pics of said daughter.

My daughter just graduated and she was unaware of it or anyone who had done it. Probably the smart thing.

I did it two times that I recall, always fueled with "liquid courage" at night (extra dumb). My memory is fuzzy, but I thought I saw the face in the daytime and there was a spot with a rebar sticking out ...scary.
