Is Justyn Ross really healthy?

He was bothered the majority of the O310 State game and has had the lingering hip for a while, which I imagine will be addressed shortly after the off-season begins. He's still the starter on the depth chart, but is he 100%? I feel like he's going to be playing through injury again. Kudos to his toughness, but I hope we liberally rotate our guys so he's available for a big 4th quarter play if we need it.

Good point but Ross has been on the report with his hip

It's more significant than the season-long bumps and bruises.

He hasn't been healthy all year.

Hasn't had the speed as last year which is why TL has overthrown him so many times.
Hope he finally gets back into his old beast self.

something i wouldve imagined after watching him play last year. He definitely hasn't been right this year. His yards per catch average is down from 21.7 (very elite) to just 12.9 (very average). I don't have the number in front of me right now, but his yards per target and catch rate were both wayyyy down this year too.
I hope he has a huge bounce back year in 2020 but he's wayyy better than what we've seen from him this year.

We won't find out until after the game. That's how it works.

presser and say "Oh, by the way, Ross is going to be playing at probably 50%, so will not be nearly as effective as he was last year."
It could be all part of the Dabo chess game to get Ross one on one coverage, at least early on. Then, he blows by his man and catches a couple of deep ones. Dabo Fischer Swinney.

Well if didn't heal up with three weeks off before OSU we shouldn't expect him to be any healthier against LSU. Its too bad but he's obviously not been right all season.

I agree that he has not been healthy but what has hurt him more is that I don't think he is comfortable pushing himself through the injury.
He looked very soft for 57 minutes of the Fiesta Bowl. He was shying away from contact and looked very slow with the ball in his hands.
Then he caught a pass on what I believe was the first play on the last TD drive and actually accelerated and ran through some tacklers to get a huge momentum first down.
I told my brother sitting next to me that I wish Ross had been that aggressive with the ball in his hands all night, and after seeing that I felt much better about our chances on that drive.
He is a superstar talent but we have to remember that he is 19 and this may be the first time he has ever had to play at less than full strength.
Let's hope that last catch of the Fiesta Bowl showed him that he has the ability to be aggressive and go all out even when something isn't at 100%.

Ross and Higgins were both in non contact jerseys the week before OSU. The wear and tear from 13 games is immense. These guys have to play 3 more games to win a natty than when we won in 1981. Playoff expansion should not occur because of this unless they drop conference championship games.

Also, I'm sure opposing defenses have paid special attention to Justyn after seeing what he did to 'Bammer last year. They've kept him in front, making sure they don't get beat on the long ones. But, I'm certain the nagging injury has slowed him some.

He's down nearly 9 yards per catch from 2018

I'm sure there's an issue we'll hear about after the season.

He’s fine. One game to go. Leave it all on the field.
