Is it quicker to take 85 from Gville to CU or go in on 123?

APM and lil'APM are staying at the Hampton Inn at 85 and 385. We can get on 123 or go on 85 to get to CU.
Which is best? We have never come in from Gville before.
TIA.

But he is on the 85 interchange

And it would be tough to get to 123
I might go 8/88 and come in through Pendleton or jump on 123 at Issaqueenah

turn right. go about a mile. turn left on the little road at an angle past the fire station. There used to be a silo there, but it's gone now. Then go through 4 way stop. go through next 4 way stop. That takes you to a light which, when you go straight, puts you on 88. Turn right at the stop sign close to clemson where the little filling station is & they sell peanuts on the side of the road. that takes you to 123 at the Walmart exit. or, you can stay straight and head in towards the Armory.
####. now everyone will know the shortcut.

I use the last part of that shortcut

But since I'm coming from the south, I approach the stoplight in question via Hwy 8 and turn left.

I-85 is quicker if you speed (nothing crazy) about 10ish over. Cops are less likely to burn you there than 123, there's also fewer traffic lights on 85 clearly and you do not have to drive through Easley.

Gone every which way you can get too Clemson. The best answer ifs to know the all because it is all about traffic. I would go 123 if I were you. Even when I go mountain biking at isaqueena I go 123.

Depends on how early you plan to leave for Tigertown. Between 8 and 9:30am then you should be fine going 123. It has always been faster for me to go down 123. You could also take 81 to 88 and come in that way. You would bypass Easley going that way.

85 is faster, but 123 is the shorter route. Too many lights...

for me... I've driven both many times and will never take 123 again. I like moving rather than sitting.

variations of that, coming out in Pendleton or cutting over to 123. Look at a map. But getting through Easley isn't that bad. Also depends on where you're parking and what side on campus you should be on to get there, and if you're late enough that it matters. Get some boiled peanuts on the way in.

123 is quicker. Last year I took 85 and my brother took 123. We left greenville area at the same time and he beat me by 10 minutes.
