I'm a donor and I'd rather sleep a family of 4 in a Ford explorer in the walmart parkinglot... or maybe hit up the Best Way Inn Seneca for under $100.

to me, the hotel room is a place I aspire to spend as LITTLE time as possible. Take hot shower, and sleep/rest 6-8 hours. That's it. I don't even want to turn on the TV set there, if I do I am wasting time from doing something fun and exciting in the city I chose to travel to.
A hot shower is worth, what $25? (I'm sure it differs greatly according to circumstances). A comfortable cool/warm room and bed/sleep is worth $50? $75 tops? $10/hr? Is it quantifiable? What is it worth to go with no sleep or nap in your car? I never sleep well in a hotel bed no matter how plush or premium, just can't in a strange room/bed.
So a hotel room (to ME) is worth about $75-100. Tops.
But if I'm paying $500-1000/night, I feel almost obligated to stay there for the entire day, squeezing every drop of the amenities out of it. And that absolutely spoils the reason I am travelling in the first place.

That has been a few years ago however, as I haven't been to a game since 2019.

weekends. Hotels around Clemson have been doing this for a while now. You can get a room in that very same hotel in Clemson (Tru by Hilton) this weekend for $120. IMO it's just stupid to pay over $1000 for very average hotel room but some people have more money than brains.
Gone are the days when Clemson was a nice affordable, rural small college town. The Winkopp's of the world decided to make bank off our SC foothills paradise and with it the wealthy have invaded "little ole Clemson" and are slowly changing the character of our beloved Clemson...

NGL, I miss business travel sometimes. If you’re good at it, it’s darned rewarding and enjoyable, but you do have to be wired for it. I know plenty of people who couldn’t get off the road quickly enough.
