Is Dabo looking into the future?

Is Dabo just laying the foundation for the future with bringing Morris back?

Hear me out....We all know Riley isn't going to be long term (like Venables) because he will be a head coach in the near future. I hope he sticks around for a while but deep down we know he is going to be a hot commodity for a head coach somewhere.

With Jeff Scott in the area and bringing Morris back in a out of the scenes role writing on the wall that possibly a Jeff Scott and Chad Morris Co-OC type deal in the future?

But first things first lets get Riley in and see where the chips fall this season

Go Tigers!!!

IMO the more likely option is Morris wants to be a HC again. He will use his time at Clemson to learn Riley’s offense as a resume booster.

The only mention I've seen of GR's desire to be a HC...

was from his brother. I would say Lincoln's word here is gospel, and certainly I haven't read everything, so Garrett may have clearly stated his desire somewhere along the line. If the man wants a head coaching gig, I am sure some AD/program will offer a former Broyle's winner that opportunity - it will be no surprise.

What I do find interesting though, is Lincoln saying Garrett is in no hurry, "There's a difference between wanting to be a head coach and being in a hurry to be one."

Brent Venables was in Clemson for 10 years, that is long term especially for what was perhaps the best DC in all of college football that also had desires to scratch the head coaching itch.

If things go well in Clemson, I'm sure a lot of faithful Tigers would be thrilled to have GR for 10 years. I don't know that he's on the BV, 10-year plan, but Coach Riley appears to be willing to wait for the right opportunity and not just any.

Dabo is always looking to the future...

which is why so many times short sighted fans are left confused. I seriously doubt that Morris has been brought in to be the replacement at OC, but it's good to have that experience available, just in case.

was brought on as analyst?

Or Terry Bowden as an intern/analyst?

Perhaps you should have a town hall and clear some things up?

I will go ahead and say what myself and several others have

danced around. Morris personality, to me was always somewhat abrasive. Now, we had already pretty much taken for granted that Jeff Scott, who is one of the most likeable guys around, was going to be back with us in some offensive capacity starting next year. With that already being the plan, bringing Morris and his personality back into the mix, just makes that much less sense.

Butt, one thing I am sure of. Dabo Swinney always has a plan. He may not let the rest of us in on what the plan is, but you can bet he thought this move out long and hard before he pulled the trigger on it. Now, not all Dabo's past moves have worked out, but a great percentage of them have worked out just fine, thank you two Nattys worth and counting. So, I will wait, watch, and hope this is one of the moves that works very, very well.

That move would be called Back to the Future.***

Perhaps James Davis coming back means he will be the OC in waiting?
