I mean really, with the unlimited amount of money that's allowed to pass through an NIL program, can't over-signed players simply be statused as walk-ons and a portion of their NIL money be used to fund tuition payments?

One thing I fail to understand is we seem to have to weed out a few to get down to 85 but FSU, Bama and Ga continue to pick up all the top transfer players. Seems they would be over 100 by now.

They have a revolving door of players in and players out.

85 is also a scholarship limit.. not a number of players limit

85 is not relevant at all. The salary of the players on roster is more relevant than 85.

If you have a roster of 85 making 5 million and a roster of 53 making 50 million you are taking an L every time

my guess is the high rated kids want the NIl and the scholarship and will go to any 1 who gives them both.

History shows that SEC teams, especially UGA and Bama, pay no attention to that number.
