Interesting take on the whole situation...

Oct 9, 2013, 10:05 PM

I am by no means making any excuses for Clowney, but this article does make me look at it all from a slightly different perspective.

That was a sweet little sermon.

But the talk is not coming from what we don't know about Clowney, but instead what we do know.

Remember when he was running his mouth about how opposing QB's were afraid of him...how he could see it in their eyes? Naming them by name?

Remember how he blamed the coaching staff of not using him correctly just because the opposing team was running plays away from him.

Pfft...treat others how you want to be treated indeed.

You're right, that behavior and attitude is in no way acceptable. I agree with you completely. I just thought it was interesting to think about it from the perspective in the article. No, not all of his actions are justifiable, but people posting more about him on this website than about Clemson isn't really doing anything but stooping to the coot level of becoming more obsessed with the actions of your rival than those of your own team.

True. I hate our obsession with the coots. I wish we could rise above that.

and regardless of what ANY chickentech defender sez:

The time to let THE TRAINER know you have an injury is the very second you realize the injury is more than just a nagging pain to make sure your position coach is aware so he can keep the rest of the staff informed.

Spurrier acted like an ###, like he ALWAYS does, but its easy to understand his frustration particularly when he got to watch Clowney goofing around on the sidelines, laughing and joking, while chickentech's lead over that vaunted Kentucky squad was dissolving.

Spurrier, in an attempt to defuse the whole situation and get the rest of the world to forget both his and Clowney's actions, wants the bad press to stop adding up for his superstar DE---but its too late--and all of them have contributed to the problem

That article may very well be right. Maybe we shouldn't judge what we don't know. My experience though has been when he soaks up the attention and hype heaped upon him this summer and make "the scared comments" then you lose benefit of the doubt when things don't go as scripted. More humility this summer may have given him more understanding this fall.

These things have been known about Clowney for a few...

years now. It's just now coming to the national spotlight because of his antics. All of what has happened is in line with his past behavior. It's just that the local media here in SC has been covering up as best they can. And ESECPN has been covering it up, and as with almost everything else in sports media, other sports media outlets just copy ESECPN.

Stopped paying attention when I saw the pastor or whatever

Oct 10, 2013, 9:30 AM

he is doing the "extended arms" pose, like he is in front of a "Welcome to Arizona" sign.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The whole "situation" is Spurrier's fault...no leadership.

Oct 10, 2013, 10:53 AM

I don't blame Clowney, I blame his leaders.
