Interesting perspective on FSU game.

I have no idea if this is normal for fans of teams, but here is what I see talking to Nole fans and Tiger fans.
Clemson fans have more confidence in FSU making it a close game than FSU fans do.
Here are snippets from a few tweets I've gotten today from Nole fans.
1. If Cooper and Lovett (DTs) are out, we're in trouble. (Cooper is coming off injury and Lovett hasn't played all year.)
2. We're gonna need DJ to stink it up and he ain't done that all year.
3. Their TB will get 150+ yards.
4. We need a better game plan than run on first down for a loss of 2 yards.
5. (Answering 4) Yeah, we gotta make them think we might throw the ball on first down. Heck, we're gonna be hard pressed to run at all. Travis is gonna have to run.
7. Johnny Wilson (6'7" guy) is gonna have to have a career day.
There were 6 of us in this group text. No one - all Nole fans - expecting us to win. All are just hoping, but not optimistic, we can keep it close.

You and your group must have watched old clips from Lou Holtz and other great, woe is me, coaches.

I understand you thinking that.

but, I assure you it's not. We've suffered through 2 years of Jimbo followed by two years of Taggart and Norvell being 0-4 last year.
We've seen this team play. 1. Noles are better than they've been in at least 7 years. 2. Norvell has done a great job turning around the culture. 3. Noles don't quit, don't give up, and seem to play better when faced with adversity. 4. We recognize Noles are close to being 6-0, but even closer to being 2-5. 5. We're headed in the right direction, but we ain't close to the destination yet. 6. We know what Clemson has been the past 7 years. We think last year was more of an aberration than a trend. 7. We know, probably better than Clemson fans, just how banged up and injured at key positions on the OL and DL the Noles are.
We're hoping for a close game where we have a chance to steal a win at the end. We're not crying and saying, "Woe is me!" We are long term optimistic, just not optimistic this week.

Great posts as always. Neither Clemson nor FSU have put together a complete game for all three units. IF either team does so on Saturday the other team may be in for a long day. If I were a FSU fan I would be a little (or lot) concerned that my team has faded toward the last half (or quarter) of games, whereas that is when Clemson has started to roll. I think I would be concerned if Clemson gets out to a fast start (which we don't seem tot do ..... or if FSU gets out to a slow start. Neither good for the Noles. OF course I always expect a competitive game from Clemson opponents.

We will get their best shot, but I see the Tigers taking this one in good fashion. I think we now are healthy and have the right guys in the right places. We find out on Sat.!

I agree that the Noles never quit. They will play their hearts out til the final whistle, no matter the score. I think that mentality has gotten them back into some games that other teams would have given up on.

One thing is for sure, a night game at Doak is what makes me nervous. We get everyone’s best shot and most teams play lights out vs Clemson. I’m not going to lie, this one makes me really nervous.

Colemanfan, I'm nervous about it too. This is the best atheletes we've faced since uga last year. Understanding a difference between experience and atheletic. FSU may have guys hurt but they have the skill to match us. The DB's are good. Again, the best group of dbs since uga. Our group of receivers have underwhelmed in getting separation and in catching contested balls.
Our oline has actually held up in pass pro good this year. We haven't established a run game this season against some weak competition.
BC took away our seam passes and confused DJ. If it's not easy, DJ gets nervous and gets happy feet. All year we've relied on wearing teams down in the 2nd half.
I'm not sold that NC State is a good team. That said, I'm shocked FSU couldn't beat them. If our D comes to play like they have since wake, we should win. And could pull away in 2nd half and win by double digits. So, imo, it really comes down to how well DJ plays and what defense FSU tries to play.

It is all about how DJ plays. And maybe about how our DBs play, especially against a 6' 7" WR.

Well said Clemsongal. I agree with you as well, how good is NC state really and FSU should have won that game. I am also worried about their 6 ft 7 receiver vs our DBs. This one makes me nervous because they do have talent. Norvell did a great job of getting guys through the portal and they’ve been the difference makers. I’m hoping our depth will prevail and we pound the ground in the 4th to win the game.

I haven't watched much of FSU this year other than the LSU game.
I've read that teams have been able to run on them, but we'll see. I would not be surprised if it's close through the 1st quarter or even at half.
I'm excited to watch the Clemson D line at full strength. Those guys have a chance to dictate the game this week imo.
I think Clemson can pull away if we can hit a few shots downfield. If we're successful running early we might get some shots for big pass plays.

There is definite talent gap, but this time in Clemson's favor. My attitude was hoping for us to keep it close. Then Tye Hill intercepted that pass and I started thinking we could possibly win this game if FSU kept making mistakes.
Playing a night game on the road you better bring your A game. I don't know what our A game is this year. If you are as banged up on the lines as you say then we shouldn't need more than a B+ game and we will pull away in the second half. Just my 2 cents.

say what you will but this game concerns me more than any other we've played yet.
The Noles have talent and guts. taking two top 15 teams to the wire is no small feat. We can and should win, but our boys will have to come ready to play in a way we haven't yet seen in a first half (still think 2nd half NCSt was a thing of beauty).
I'm thinking the Noles, team and fans, want this game and if they get up on us we will definitely have our hands full.
