However, I'll be ###### before I contribute to an NIL collective under the current system.

Alabama Has Full Class Worth of Players in Transfer Portal in Wake of Saban Retirement
DAN LYONS21 HOURS AGO

This is the latest news in a troubling, if unsurprising, trend for Alabama. According to 247Sports, Downs would be the 27th Crimson Tide player to hit the portal. In total, Alabama is losing a large recruiting class worth of players.

Nineteen of those players are already committed to or enrolled at other programs, with a slew of players heading to peer programs like Florida State, Ohio State and Texas:

QB Tyler Buchner - committed to Notre Dame (lacrosse)
QB Eli Holstein - committed to Pitt
RB Roydell Williams - enrolled at Florida State
WR Malik Benson - enrolled at Florida State
WR Isaiah Bond - committed to Texas
WR Ja’Corey Brooks- committed to Louisville
WR Shazz Preston - committed to Tulane
TE Miles Kitselman - committed to Tennessee
OL Terrence Ferguson - enrolled at Florida State
OL Seth McLaughlin - committed to Ohio State
DL Anquin Barnes - committed to Colorado
DL Monkell Goodwine - committed to South Carolina
DL Isaiah Hastings - committed to Syracuse
LB Kendrick Blackshire - committed to Texas
LB Shawn Murphy - committed to Florida State
CB Earl Little II - enrolled at Florida State
CB Dezz Ricks - committed to Texas A&M
S Jake Pope - committed to Georgia
S Kristian Story - enrolled at Kentucky
Seven more players remain available:

WR Thaiu Jones-Bell
WR Hayden Neighbors
TE Amari Niblack
TE Jax Porter
LB Ian Jackson
CB Trey Amos
CB Antonio Kite
The list includes some significant contributors to the 2023 SEC champions.

Williams was the team’s second-leading rusher, with 560 yards and five touchdowns. Bond led the team with 48 receptions, and was second on the roster with 668 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Niblack had 20 receptions for 327 yards and was tied with Bond with four touchdowns.

One guy said they had ZERO DBs and CBs left on the roster. Like 50 total players after you subtract these 27 transfers, the injured, senior grads and others who have left previously.

Really no way to get more players between now and April 1 since the semester has started.

I know it wont matter to the most rabid fans but

In a way it gives the new coach even more of a cushion

They can’t question why he can’t win with Sabin’s players

This is where there has to be a natural market rebalance in the mix.

At some point these high dollar donors are going to want to see ROI, and that just isn't going to happen when guys jump ship at the drop of a hat. They're going to pull back, whether it's completely or enough to make a dent. The days of unlimited collective money is not long for this world without player contracts or league-wide required commitments to programs.

That is how I see it. In the past, we had secretive pissing contest

with these high dollar guys. It could never get too crazy. Now that they can be in the open and brag about it, the money went nuts. Eventually when the teams can't get any close to winning a national championship and the bragging doesn't give them that same high, the money will settle out and guys won't be making more than NFL rookies.

The NIL crap sucks. It's all about money these days and it's ruining our chances at greatness. All we need to do is get our own rich boosters, and rake in more money and THEN we too could be successful.

Whoever wrote this is part of the problem. Clemson is sending me letters asking I join the 110 Society or whatever it's called. NIL slush fund is a better term. This way Clemson can rake in more cash to buy the best players from the portal and out of HS.

What is going to happen here is a large percentage of fans will turn their backs and walk away. Some will buy into this whole heartedly, but many who were raised on Clemson football decades ago will walk away as they don't recognize the campus, the students, the players, or the university.

At. All.

All this jive turkey about all this money and I've yet to see much of anything that confirms any of it being a fact, maybe except the FSU trouble they got in.

Obligatory: I understand some kids are being paid, money is moving, and schools are cheating.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that the amounts being reported are grossly overstated, mainly by folks that have no F'ing idea. Like this gator guy.
